If I had it now I wouldn't stop playing until it was finished.  these games are like crack to me.  I cared more about eating, drinking and sleeping in New Vegas than I did in real life.  I was legally dead for the two weeks following Fallout 3's release.

This game renders Oblivion obsolete. There's seriously no reason for t to even exist anymore.

really, truly, honestly yeah.  It's crazy cus Oblivion just made me go back to playing Morrowind and loving it, but Skyrim makes me never want to look at Oblivion's ugly face(s) again.

And what's sad is that i could STILL go back to Morrowind because the fundamental things that keep me hooked in Skyrim (great Art, Varied Quests, World Design, deep history tied with the gameplay) are there too.  Just in Skyrim they are 2011-ified :D

but damn, i think Skyrim might take the crown away from Morrowind, it really is that good.  Sure i'd love Spears, and Medium Armor, and the old style of Dark Brotherhoods armor, and the Morag Tong, and the Great Houses, but Skyrim has it's own flavor of all that as opposed to Oblivion which just was a pile of shit :lol

Killed a dragon at night on the way to a new town, and then right before I got there I got pwned by... two fucking bears.  Hilarious and stupid at the same time.

Most fun I've had with a game since Fallout 3.

You've got to wonder what happened with Oblivion? I guess you can give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt since it was their first Elder Scrolls game designed around modern consoles? Comparing Skryim to Oblivion and looking back on Morrowind, Oblivion feels almost transitional.

I give a lot of credit to Bethesda working on Fallout 3, personally.  I liked Morrowind marginally better than Oblivion but honestly the game still felt like a huge chore for the most part.  This shit tho...

Archer + Stealth definitely killed in Oblivion. Though the problem with this setup would be magical creatures that can take the initial critical hit and be a huge annoyance (COUGH*Spriggans*COUGH). Though stealth criticals seems even stronger in Skyrim. Definitely need a plan B in those cases. Humanoids (non-magical) would get fucked up though.

I am one shotting humanoids if I stealth snipe with my bow.

Always have a plan B, though, and have another set of equipment set up for quick switch (hold left or right on items you want and in mid-battle press left or right to equip mid-battle with no pause).

11 hour play session today. spent a lot of time doing dungeons. i'm still using the orcish axe i found some time ago and a dwarven shield that is good against magic. i've killed 3 dragons so far, the initial one, one at some watch tower for a bounty, and one that just randomly appears. the random one was fighting a giant which i used to my advantage. then Lydia aggro'd the Giant and got shot into the sky. when the dragon and giant were both dead she just strolled up to me like nothing had happened. like a boss.

I also started the Thieves Guild quest line in Riften but i dunno i wanna do it because my sneak stats are shite.

that's been my problem so far. i'm using the same weapons that i got like 2 hours in.

i've been finding good armor though. got some awesome dwarven gauntlets and a looted a set of steel plate armor from some mercs.

Pretty Standard Bethesda hiking sim at this point. Same awkward directional combat, dialogue "trees" that might as well not exist. I'm a big fan of snowy/moorish landscapes though and the music fits brilliantly...is it still jeremy soulless? The area around whiterun looks like the pennines close to where i live.

Anyway, it's bloodmoon part 2...we just need the uderfrykte.

works for me. i hold left on the dpad and it assigned it to the left dpad. same for right. i have my dwarf shield on left and flame on right.

edit: also, dragons are bitches. would be nice if they were actually difficult to fight. maybe they are later on but i've killed 4 so far and they've all been pretty easy.

ya i got it to work now they go thorugh no explanations of how to set it up on PC had to read some posts on like SA and here to try and attempt it to work.

also the thing I love most about this game is how they made stuff fun to play. Like before if you where a vampire or a werewolf it was miserable, but so far being a werewolf is p fucking fun. wonder if vampire is as fun.

Just had a pretty annoying glitch (I assume it is anyway) happen.  In Yngvol Barrow I got to the last room, killed the dude and there was a staircase behind a door that wouldn't open.  There was even a switch that I could push but it wouldn't respond to any input.  Had to backtrack to get out.

Dark Souls has a nice solution.  You can carry as much as you'd like and only what you equip weighs you down.  It's not just a simple carrying limit since you can equip two items per hand and swap between them with the d-pad.  The secondary weapon's weight is added even if you're not using it.

It works because everything in the game is real time.  You don't want to be going through the menu to switch weapons in a battle.

whoever said Oblivion has been rendered useless for all eternity is correct. I don't know how the map compares but it feels bigger.

Reasonably happy with high settings and FXAA on my 5850. I think I need to mess around with some of the draw distances though, getting ~40fps outside if there's a lot going on. Also get drop to around 30fps if there's some sort of smoke or particle effects going on - the first major town with some fire causes problems :(

Morrowind had fucking tiiight loot, it was Oblivion that ruined the name of TES forever in that respect too.

in Morrowind you can get a crescent sword by going to another dimension of existence and killing a daedric prince.  you enter this world by putting on a ring, and bam!  and floating boots!   Umbra!  Umbraaaa!

I know those 'special' weapons were in Oblivion, but only through those stupid Daedric quests. such bullshit.  I should be able to go off the beaten path and stumble upon the ultimate weapon

oh and yeah on the ost, it's fucking gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood in this game.  it's really awesome, ambient and the cuts of the old osts are sweet.

performance is so looney in this game. On high settings I get like 40-60 FPS outside but once you go inside I get literally 200 fps. It's like..."what"

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-skyrim-texture-problems-on-xbox-360

Quote
The issue only seems to manifest if you have the Xbox 360 version of Skyrim installed to the hard drive - a process that is entirely optional. In this case, the highest resolution versions of the textures appear to stall and not load, meaning that you're definitely not seeing the game at its best. If you remove the install, and run the game directly from the DVD, the best quality artwork returns to the game.

Quote
Typically, an alternative install solution for Xbox 360 owners is to copy the game over onto a USB flash drive. Bethesda talks about the game extensively using the HDD's cache, so we thought that there was an outside possibility that this could be a bandwidth issue - an HDD install accessing the HDD cache, actually leading to a lowering of response time. This is something we've previously seen with Halo 3, which actually loads faster installed to a USB device.

Unfortunately, in our testing the USB install was ignored completely with the game relying on the disc and hard drive instead. Only when we removed the HDD totally was the USB install utilised - and that crashed within 15 minutes of play time. Perhaps that's something that should be investigated when the game is inevitably patched, in addition to sorting out the headline bug.

Quote
Bethesda staff initially denied that there was an issue, with VP or Marketing and PR Peter Hines tweeting to a customer, "I don't know what texture glitches you are talking about. Game runs same off disc vs. HDD. We don't see any differences."

However, the official forum was later updated with this post:

"Skyrim uses a lot of dynamic streaming systems, including textures. We've seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up. We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disk and when the game is fully cached (not installed).

"Skyrim makes heavy use of the Xbox 360 caching system, and caches over the normal course of play while in menus or interiors. This cache can be wiped when other games are played or when the user manually removes it. We're working on a solution in the next title update for those who have installed the game."

I liked the  accessibility of Oblivion as I felt it was the first one of the elder scrolls games made to actually encourage people new to the series to actually play it. I just had some specific game issues with the design of it.

I got in Skyrim yesterday and played it for a bit. I was initially put off but how shit the animation still is and how janky everything still is but I'm starting to enjoy it now.

I like spinning and rotating the 3d models. Even on the load screens. I find it enjoyable for some reason.
