Monks have shitty DPS. My level 51 monk is around 2600 and it doesn't seem too low. Just started Act 1 Hell.  If you are getting roasted in the game, you should work on improving armor and hp over dps for this character

Made it to level 56 with Duuuuuuuuurp the wizard on hell tonight.  DPS is at around 5.5k right now... I think I've kind of fucked up though, I was trying a weird build where I focus on health regen and take a rune that makes it to where no one hit can do more than 35% of my health, which means you actually want a LOWER health total so no emphasis on VIT, but when you're getting raped by mobs that doesn't seem very helpful.  Might have to go back to Act I hell and grind a bunch of gold so that I can buy some new stuff on the AH and fix this crap.

The problem is that on the higher difficulties you run into a few bad mob groups together and you die in 3 seconds.

It almost seems like certain mob combinations in this game were made with resurrection in mind so you can continually wear them down over revives.

Not an issue if you play with a team that knows what's up. Cause fighting that Butcher sure would be fun solo. They took him down pretty easy.

rogue likes don't take 50 hours to get to the highest difficulty.

I don't mind rogues because they're usually pretty short so it's not the most horrible thing if you have to start over.  I couldn't imagine having to replay through the game 3 times all over again just to get back to where I died in D3.

You have to turn on Advanced Tooltips in options. I'm not sure why this wasn't on by default, I guess they were afraid casuals would be scurred by teh numbers.

Have you turned on advanced tooltips?

It turns on the numbers.  And turning on elective mode lets you customize your skills.  Default options make the game 'simpler' by hiding numbers and stuff.

I've always loved seeing my dps and dmg taken numbers in games, especially WoW with some of the addons you can use.

Any plans for a Recount type addon for Diablo 3? I'd love to see everyone's dps, dmg taken, etc in a group

Big post on design and upcoming changes.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/6018173/Game_Design_Update-5_28_2012#blog

Quote
In addition, we’re planning to just straight-out buff Legendary items in a future patch

Huzzah.

Quote
Other areas of concern have been both the gem combination system and Blacksmith leveling and crafting costs. The intent, especially with the Blacksmith, is that he’s leveling with you, you’re able to use him as an alternate source for upgrades. Our design goal is that once you get to level 60, his recipes are actually good enough to help fill a character’s potential itemization gaps. To correct these issues, we’re looking to adjust the Blacksmith costs for training (gold and pages) and crafting from levels 1-59, and reduce the cost of combining gems so that it only requires two gems instead of three (up to Flawless Square). Both of these changes are scheduled for patch 1.0.3.

Further huzzah!  Bsmith might actually be useful!

I wish you could at least chose one specific attribute for whatever item you make with the BS. So say you choose vitality, and you then get two random attributes to go along with it. Instead of getting a 25 INT, 18 Dexterity, +10 gold range  :-\

Changing gem crafting to 2 gems instead of 3 actually makes it worse  :lol

The problem isn't finding gems, they drop at a pretty high rate and you get tons of them.  The problem is that combining them costs money and if you have a ton to combine it'll burn through all your gold.  With 2 gems, it'll cost even more :P

No, but the perma death penalty will make a random lag spike infuriating like nothing else.

I've been slow playing the game really, havent had much time to really marathon. Helped a friend beat the lord of lies today, was surprised he struggled there, he is on the same level as me (wizard vs my demon huntress) but kept dying to the green goop.

I agree with Bebpo that lowering the gem combine requirement from 3 to 2 is needless. I also don't think the Blacksmith is all that worthless if you play with multiple characters instead of attempting to go through the entire game with one character first. I love buffing the Legendary item buff, though. But I'm assuming that's not going to apply to items that have already dropped, right? :(

Edit: yep :'(

I got one legendary drop 50 hours into the game.  And it was outclassed by a normal rare item I got 20 mins later.

Legendary buff definitely is needed because right now they aren't that much better than rares in a lot of cases.
