I can't comment on Caprica because I only watched the opening movie for it. Some day I'll get around to watching it. While I will watch this I also must admit some sadness that the only sci-fi that seems to work on TV seems to be of the variety that involve space ship battles and fighting robots/aliens Not that I don't like my space ship battles and robot/alien fights. But I wish there was more variety.

They probably have a really small budget to work with.

Sadly sci-fi on television died a horrible death some years back

Well that's kinda my point about Caprica. It may or may not have been good but that intro movie did not strike me as space battles and robot fights.

And to be fair I'm painting an overly harsh picture of BSG which wasn't just about space battles and robot fights either although it had those elements.

Well, that Battlestar Galactica: Blood And Chrome trailer I posted this morning didn't last long, as NBCUniversal has quickly scoured the web of its very existence, as is their right, since it was an unauthorized leak. And now, their company SyFy looks to go one further, as they've announced that they've passed on the opportunity to turn Blood And Chrome into a series. The 90-minute pilot episode, in production for over a year, will likely become a simple TV movie.

The good news is that they may still turn the show into a "digital series," which I assume would mean that it would air on syfy.com and have a hefty budget cut. The network says that that was the goal all along:

Though the vision for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome has evolved over the course of the past year, our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned. We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date.

After the cancellation of Caprica and now this, one has to imagine that the network doesn't really know what it wants to do with the universe it helped rekindle.

Sy fy is distinguished mentally-challenged and caprica was a great show. People who equate sci if to only space exploration and ship battles and robots are superficial. Caprica was still space opera, just in a different form.

Caprica was alright, started off to slowly to catch the crowds though.

Back to a world with only Fringe and the god awful Alcatraz as the only sci fi on tv. Thank based god for Asia and anime.

Yeah, but I cant get into that. I grew up on Star Trek TNG, Lexx, Babylon 5, Farscape and such. The ME stories are derivative as fuck and sucks atop that. Perhaps if they made it into a sci fi series which explores the universe in a semi intelligent, coherent way I'd be able to get into it.

Ffffuuu. Still need to start Caprica, but I love BSG. Looking forward to it.

Thought the end of BSG sucked ass though, which is why I never checked out Caprica but my bitterness has all but faded.

I'm still bitter about Firefly. Nerd bitterness is the taste that lasts decades.

I stopped watching Caprica about halfway through before it became cancelled. They would have about six or so storylines going on at a time, but each episode maybe only one of those storylines would see a little plot progression, if you were lucky, and all the others would just kind be there in a holding pattern with nothing happening. It got seriously tedious, and this is coming from a guy who liked the pacing of Lost.

I didn't have a problem with BSG, either. It was obvious that the creators didn't have "a plan," but I still enjoyed it.

The Plan, however, was shit.
