the dialog enrages me. i can't help but think of andrex or one of gaf's flaccid ninpeeps guffawing hysterically whenever palutena emits some fourth wall bustin vidjagame gag remark

::)

Like I said before, you can't do a rail shooter without heavy helpings of cheese. And I doubt I'd be cracking up more at this than Overkill.

It's good to know something so simple can still get you in such a frenzy, though.

Is this Treehouse's usual meme filled shitshow of a localization?

yes, dialed to 11. remember when crushed was, like, 17 and gratingly unfunny on gaf -- before he grew up and made us not hate him any more? this game is the undiluted essence of that time; an anti-nostalgia that stifles the senses like a urine-soaked pillowcase.

I really don't think it's bad.  Maybe my standards are low seeing as how I'm coming into this from Solatorobo and Kingdom Hearts psp (I felt bad for james woods playing this).  It's really corny, relies on way too many puns, but it's a game for (man)children.  I wasn't expecting something like Panzer Dragoon.

IR controls are such a perfect fit for this game. Sucks but then again, no one would really give much of a shit if it were on the Wii.

Hell make it a wiiu launch title with pad and nunchuck compatibility.  Don't shoehorn it on to a system where it physically hurts to play the fucking game.

Glad we seem to agree on Treehouse. Probably the most overdone localizations since whoever did the DS version of DQ4.

Still shudder thinking about Bowser's Inside Story (that whole game was ass).

I decided to go through the remaining chapters tonight, so it was the longest strength I played it.  by the final chapter my arm was getting sore.  the tail end of the game is too drawn out and can be repetitive.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
at one point you're on a circular platform fighting 13 waves of enemies.  and in another it does the wave thing again, only capping each with refighting old bosses.
[close]

supposedly took 12+ hours including replaying the first couple levels.  average intensity was about 7.  other than the controls I really enjoyed the game, and even those dull segments would be fine if the game didn't control so poorly.  I'd buy a port for wii u and hope if there's a sequel it's on the wii u.  the game is definitely on the wrong platform.

oh, and there's an option to disable all dialog once you beat it.

70-something hours later, I think i'm completely acclimated to the controls. I think I uh might actually like them. There's still a bunch of stupid stuff that happens on ground battles. I think the biggest offender is being bombarded by three or four mooks and then circling around one of them with your back to another. That screws me up big time and basically guarantees I don't finish any stage on 9.0 intensity.

The multiplayer is fun stuff if you play with good people, I guess. Noway to communicate with your team mates doesn't make any sense whatsoever in the Light vs Dark mode. I guess they wanted us to develop telepathic capabilities or something because that junk is straight up impossible when you play with someone that can't hold their own.

Multi is also really hectic. And it doesn't help that it's six players firing big-ole magical bullets and throwing items at each other every second on a 3-inch screen. Very overwhelming. Even so, it's actually a ton of fun.

I've just beat chapter 10. It's was fun and I got used to the controls, but I have no real desire to play anymore. All the level, weapons,  already are starting to feel the same. Maybe I'm just not a big fan of this type of game. Been playing at higher intensities and its no real change. Boring

Things get so much better after Chapter 10. But, if you just aren't feeling it now, the later stuff prolly isn't going to change your mind much. The levels also get a lot longer too so there's  that.

I was already getting bored with how long the levels were now. Maybe I'll go back to it this summer.
