Avengers = Movie of the Year :trollface :smug :umad
« on: April 25, 2012, 05:05:02 PM »
Quote from: Associated Press
The dialogue sparkles as brightly as the special effects; these people may be wearing ridiculous costumes but they're well fleshed-out underneath. And so in every regard, this movie truly fulfills its hype.

Quote from: Variety
Like a superior, state-of-the-art model built from reconstituted parts, Joss Whedon's buoyant, witty and robustly entertaining superhero smash-up is escapism of a sophisticated order.

Quote from: Hollywood Reporter
Whedon pulls off a stunning feat in bringing balance to this superhuman circus, engineered to charm the geek core and non-fans alike.

Quote from: IGN
It took nearly a half-century to make it happen onscreen, but The Avengers was worth the wait, pairing together the perfect cast and perfect writer/director.

aren't pre-release reviews generally more positive than those after wide release for films of this kind?

Sometimes. If the movie is shown off to enthusiast crowds pre-release [like showing off a horror movie to a bunch of horror movie sites, for instance], it's bound to drop a lot once it gets released. Avengers seems like it has a good mix of small and major reviews, though, so it will probably drop a bit but not a whole lot.

"Beloved character" -- He can stab Loki, and any number of minions in his chest. Just don't kill off any heroes and then run away, giggling, from bitter fanboy tears.

I'm a comic book fan and i don't give a shit about leaving Janet out.  Even less about leaving Hank out.  Hank is by leaps and bounds one of the worst characters Marvel's ever pushed and they never give up on him.  He sucks, he's lame, his powers are lame, nobody likes him, fuck.

By far the bigger tragedy here is that half of Cap's Kooky Quartet is off-limits thanks to Fox and they seem to have opted not to use a third member.  Janet and Hank can go climb a tree.
Henk made the avengers greatest enemy though, it's kinda silly to not have him in and start a plot for it. Everyone agrees Henk is shit, but he's important shit. Janet as well considering what happens with her later.

His name isn't Henk, it's Hank, goddamnit.  And it would be pretty easy to graft that aspect of Ultron's origin over to Tony, I think.
Nah it wouldnt. Iron Man can create the tech as the case was in the comics, but the AI and teaching Ultron to be a fuckbag is all Hank. I'm used to calling him Henk, sorry bout that,

Beezy is gonna be too busy getting his dick sucked by a girl from the islands whilst passing blunts between me, him, and prole to talk loudly during the film.

Thor 2 is already on the books though - makes far more sense to take care of those kind of plot threads there rather than over-stuffing Avengers.

I am totally down for this of course (although it pisses me off that Kirby is not being acknowledged/paid properly but that's unsurprising as long as there is an active lawsuit). Doesn't come out in Japan 'til August though :'(
