Companies need to be careful and pick their spots though. First one that cracks the girls market wins, everyone else is doomed.

I don't think anyone bought MLP last year. Well the toys at least.

As someone who looked over Hasbro's financial results last year I can tell you people did indeed buy MLP toys. IIRC it was one of Hasbro's brands that were up year over year.

Playing through this with my nephew on the PC version. I don't know if this game (or Origins before it) are what I would call good technical platformers. And I have the worst time in this game losing my character on screen. But god damn if the game isn't charming as hell and often has you playing and enjoying the experience with a goofy grin on your face.

The Wii U levels though are kind of a pain.

However, this has a wiff of a Nintendo philosophy of "how do we make a machine that helps us sell <nameofgame>?" and the Wii U is basically geared around selling Pokemon and Pokemon toys. After all the Ninthing moaning about how dev costs are going up, do 3rd party games devs really want to be getting into the Plastic NFC figurine thing?

I'm pretty sure the NFC thing doesn't have anything to do with Pokemon. Anything Nintendo does with a new home console likely has nothing to do with Pokemon.

What likely happened is they saw Skylander's Wii success and did the same thing they did when they saw the uDraw tablet's success: copied it and made it standard on the console for all devs to use without clutting retail shelves with their own peripherals.

I guess I'll eat my crow for this. Seems like Pokemon Rumble is the only thing using the Wii U's NFC.

Wow I totally forgot about the NFC toy stuff... have they been asked about that?

If its just a plushie heart I ain't interested, difficulty is just right, but if they brought out Rayman and Globox figurines I might just be stupid enough to buy

Turns out that the Vita version is going to be getting the missing Invaded levels via a patch.
