I thought Gabe WAS the universe at this point. Fatty fat fat fat.
Reggie is right. Only the real fans would gobble up whatever diarrhea that comes out of his (and by extension Nintendo's) mouth. By having them rally up a marketing campaign for one of the best, and only, Wii titles worth owning, they are hearing you. It only took them like 6 years to actually release the game, but they listened!
When you need your fans actively screaming at the top of their lungs at you to release decent software and the only actual reason you're even doing so is because your next console isn't quite as ready for prime time as you thought it was, you are a bad company. :punch

Hey, listening to fans is still better than ignoring them. So although the way they handled it was BS, they still deserve props for actually releasing Xenoblade IMO.

here in redmond, reggie's considered an executive joke. the ONLY thing he gets daps for from ANYONE in this shitty biz is the way he cornholes the fans and gets them to lick the shit off his stick during the six month refractory period

I'd be interested to hear more on this. Perhaps Reggie came to town at the right moment and the Wii/DS success in the US isn't a product of him, but there's no question he has revamped Nintendo's US pr in an effective manner.

Although I guess if anyone knows what an executive joke is, someone from Redmond would. Ballmer lol

Oh I'm not looking for specific insider stuff, moreso from a business perspective. I've never heard Reggie's effectiveness questioned broadly.

In terms of Nintendo's PR, one must admit they've turned things around with the Wii/DS quite effectively - or at least did during the roll out of those systems/first years after release. Since then yea, lolol.

Pretty much what Oscar said.  Videogame nerds give Reggie way more props than he deserves.  He's a mouthpiece; a competent one but that's it.  The only people who give a shit what he says are, in descending order of humanity: videogame nerds, videogame "journalists" and ninthings.

I think it was Mino Arakawa, and he definitely wasn't the public speaker Reggie is.

Look, Reggie puts on a good show, and there's no question the years he's been the prez have been very good years for Nintendo of America, but they've also been very good years for NoE and NCL.  If you really want to tease out Reggie's contributions, you have to look at how NoA differed from the other two major Nintendo branches.  Which is to say, Reggie's main contributions have been to block mid-to-low tier software from releasing in America and being a more competent PR guy than the competition's guys.  And I would say that's where Reggie starts and ends.  The Wii and the DS were successes with or without the guy.

I'm not sure the Wii or DS would have gotten on the Today Show and Oprah without Reggie's specific focus on that US demographic; women had dabbled in gaming in Japan before the Wii/DS, but Nintendo managed to get women in the US to buy into that shit perfectly. The system may have been shitty but the Wii's roll out strategy/PR was perfect.

There are other places to get schedules, and it's not even until next week anyway. There will also be threads for when they are starting. Dont be stupid.
