I don't know what you guys expected from this. They made it a clear that it'd just be reading from the manual to some gameplay footage. Any major announcements would've been at yesterday's big conference, because it was on TV, and on a big stage, and had the president of Nintendo, and people actually watched it.

A reminder that Nintendo considers a show put together on a budget of less than $100 a episode on NintendoVideo called "Threediots" as more important than the following games:

- Code of Princess
- Fire Emblem
- Unchain Blades
- Zero Escape

3/4 of those are third party games that likely won't hit 50k. I don't blame them for not showing that, but Fire Emblem is a "wut". It's their franchise, like why would you not show it?

to be fair, it was redundant after already talking about this 3DS stuff yesterday.

and to be fair to Nintendo, there wasn't enough Wii U to fill yesterday's conference, so the 3DS presence there was probably an eleventh hour decision.

Look at all of these upcoming 3DS games...shows a video featuring only four games.

NSMB2 is probably the biggest disappointment. OMG COINZ! Hey, here's a bunch of coins! That way you won't get distracted and notice that we're reusing assets from a 6 year old game that was on our handheld predecessor! Hey, look at ALL DEM COINZ!

There doesn't even seem to be much of a choice in the future. Everybody seems to have given up or are getting ready to bail out on handhelds. Unless you absolutely need to play Mario, getting a tablet is probably the sensible choice for the future.

The first 18 months actually kinda delivered on that, though. It seemed like Nintendo was actually putting some effort and getting their top teams to work on putting out a steady stream of games. After that it dried up and it's been pretty much dead ever since, on Wii and DS.

It's the first time since ~2000 that Nintendo developers are experiencing new hardware. It'll take time, especially for Wii U games. For 3DS? I mean, there's a finite amount of talent they have. Would they rather have the Zelda team working on the 3DS or Wii U Zelda? Nintendo is going from a PS1-level handheld and Gamecube-level console to Gamecube-level handheld and 360-level console. Who knows.

It's not just Nintendo. Japan, sans Capcom, continue to struggle with PS3/360 hardware. And Capcom has its problems too.

Maybe next year they'll come out with some amazing looking games after the teams had their time...of course, it's getting closer to next gen.
