It's a popularity contest as any poll will be. The longest journey is the biggest "name" among those in adventure game circles. Same with Sim City 4 which beat Anno 2070 which annoyed me.

I will agree with Green Man here, if you get Dead Island (which I liked a lot), stick with the base game. The Ryder White DLC strips out everything that's good about the main game and turns it into a linear shooter/melee infected gauntlet, and it is frustratingly bad. You will die, like, every 30 seconds at certain points.

Witcher 2 for $15.99 isn't as good as the goodoldgames deal.

It is if you own Witcher 1, or if it you don't.  Doesn't matter.

Buying Witcher 2 (or 1) anywhere else lets you register it on GoG here: http://www.gog.com/en/witcher2/backup/

Steam version has achievements and cloud saving and it's registered to Steam.  Then you can go and get the DRM version + Extras on GoG.

and Amazon is really undercutting Steam.  Sniper Elite is $15 there, like, right now, and I think it's Steamworks.

Honest Hearts and old world blues iirc

tl;dr: That is correct. Buy those two.

Dead Money: Survival Horror in a hotel. A completely separate economy, invincible enemies, exploding collars, the works. If you get this you will DEFINITELY want to mod out some of the gameplay elements.

Honest Hearts: Mormons vs. Indians. This was my favorite DLC by a lot. The area's like visiting Yosemite, very different from the FO3/FONV desert. Best characters and writing in the game imo. <3 The Burned Man.

Old World Blues: "Goofy" sci-fi fallout. Very 50's B-movie vibe. This one is funny, for some values of funny. A lot of people's favorite.

Lonesome Road: Kind of a linear run-and-gun adventure; has some narrative conclusion about the Courier but otherwise not very well respected. At this point I was way burnt out and didn't even finish.

what mods are you talking about with Dead Money?

I already own that and Honest Hearts.  Thinking I should get Old World Blues and go through all three.  Do the DLC assume you're super knowledgeable about Fallout NV or is there some help to get you back in it? And are they fairly standalone and divorced from the main game?

I haven't bought anything for the steam sale  :-\

But I was thinking about getting a four pack of Nexuiz if anyone wants a copy let me know.

Also how is Krater that looks kind of cool.

I've held out on getting Postal 3 and Quantum Conundrum.

Oh and if I already have Dead Island in my backlog for 360 should I get the GOTY for PC since its so cheap? Lots of people still play it?

Easily my favourite, some of the best writing in either game.

Dead Money has a good story and characters, and the ending is pretty interesting but as stated some of the early gameplay is infuriating.

at the time, I described Old World Blues as "wacky westaboo" - it's not quite bacon narwhal level, but it's definitely of that ... vein. It's well-written! But it's "the funny one." I enjoyed it quite a bit in spite of the humor. If you find PC gamer-style humor amusing, you will like it even more. It's definitely an easy grab in either case.

also, if you don't own NV already, pick up the Ultimate Edition with all DLC of course!

Most of the mods are completely standalone stories, though you will need to relearn the items and battle mechanics.
