Leon does multi-hit combos.

There's supposed to be something with the melee that only Jake can do.  I think Chris has a unique multi-hit knife attack.

Leon has a multi-kick combo and also does a flying elbow takedown thing.

The aiming is pretty crappy with the guns, and the melee is pretty effective so far, so I've been using melee as much as possible. :lol

The aiming has been fine for me (this is where the 360 controller is superior to the PS3 controller), but I'm using more melee too.  It works so damn well.   :lol

RE5's aiming didn't feel like this. I actually went back and tried it out last night and it's much more fluid and not so jerky.

RE6 aiming is really off. It's the same thing in the demo. In RE4/5 I can aim at specific body parts with precision. In RE6 demo I had to struggle just to shoot a knee cap at the highest sensitivity.

I think you may need to adjust the aiming sensitivity.  Also keep in mind that RE6's weapons have more recoil.  One of the abilities you can equip will reduce this.

Some other complaints:

-The story: Because the game is broken up into three separate campaigns, you have characters just popping up and no understanding as to why they are there and/or why they are good/bad.  I would have preferred it if they did the game like RE Revelations, which also had different sets of characters playable and switched teams/locations with each cleared level.  Made things very easy to follow.  Here it's like "THERE'S THE BAD GUY!  WAIT HE'S BAD!?  YEAH HE'S BAD ALTHOUGH YOU DON'T KNOW WHY CUZ YOU'RE PLAYING CAMPAIGN X INSTEAD OF CAMPAIGN Y FIRST!"  There's even huge gaps of time in between some of the levels and you barely get an explanation as to what the hell happened during the time inbetween, or the characters act as if absolutely no time has passed.
spoiler (click to show/hide)
At one point, six months passes after Jake and Sherry get captured and are moved to China as prisoners.  They break out of the facility, meet up, and are just like "yeah they did a bunch of shit to me.  Whatever let's go!"
[close]

-QTEs: Why are the QTEs, that make it look like the analog stick needs to be moved left and right, actually done by making a 360 degree motion instead?

-Ammo: At times there's just too damn much of it...and then when you need it there's none to be found.   :-\  Typical I guess.

Does the game give you a way to play the chapters in order then? Like if the story goes Leon 1 to Chris 1 then Leon 2 to Jake 1 with the game give you a way to play it in order?

Nothing I've seen allows for this.  I don't think it's something that can be unlocked, either.

There was an "estimated pretty accurate" chronological order to play the chapters posted by someone...

Prelude Chapter
Chris Chapter 1
Chris Chapter 2
Jake Chapter 1
Jake Chapter 2
Leon Chapter 1
Leon Chapter 2
Leon Chapter 3
Jake Chapter 3
Chris Chapter 3
Jake Chapter 4
Leon Chapter 4
Chris Chapter 4
Jake Chapter 5
Chris Chapter 5
Leon Chapter 5
Ada's Campaign

Well, I guess you could keep a list handy of the level order Demi posted, then replay stages, but that's not very convenient.  Also I think Ada's story takes place at the same time as the others.

Man I'm so torn on this one. On one hand I loved me some Resi 5 and the thought of plus 30 hours of that is badass. Then again I just listened to the Giant Bombcast and they unload so much vehemence on it and imply so many of the systems are just completely fucked that I'm really not sure about this at all.

Finished Jake's story last night.  Was only Five chapters long and took me a bit over five hours to clear.  His is supposed to be the shortest of the main three, though.  Since I was playing as Sherry, I didn't get to take part in the "final" boss fight, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway.  It was all mediocre at best.

I keep seeing that this story mode is the worst one and the others are a lot better, but after the credits ran and the final cut scene played, I just didn't feel like bothering to continue.  Will see about starting Chris' story tonight.

This game is nothing like RE4 and RE5 (and even Revelations) were.  I can appreciate them trying some new things (For RE, anyway), but they just didn't do as good a job as they should have and the game suffers for it.

Changed-up (as in very slow) melee system aside, Revelations is what anyone who enjoyed RE5 should play.  Raid Mode in particular is awesome and better than the story mode.

Yeah, I know you didn't like it...I had fun with it but again it's the Raid Mode that's the best part of the game.  They should have dropped the scanning crap and added the raid mode stuff (co-op, different monster types, larger amounts of weapon upgrades) into the main game.

Destroyed this game with two friends in a single sitting on Veteran this Thursday. I think my favorite campaign was Chris'. Earlier in this thread I was in defense of this game, but after finishing it I can see where the criticisms come from. I don't think the severity of the reactions was appropriate (when is it ever on the internet?) but it does have a few unfortunate flaws.

Resident Evil 6 has some truly excellent shooting and movement mechanics (imo) once you've mastered the duck, dodge roll, shooting from your back, etc. the game affords you agility that I sorely missed in the previous RE games (but still very much enjoyed them without). However, the only campaign that seems designed around the shooting and only the shooting was Chris'. The other parts of the game try some crazy experiments with gameplay. which appear to be attempts at pleasing the "long-time" fan of RE. These sections came off as completely out of place, ill-paced and not nearly as polished as the shooting. Forced stealth? You got it. Obtuse boss puzzles? Yep. Aimless wandering in search of a key item? Bingo!

On top of that, the game feels way too long. The story cinematics, while gorgeous as always, provide absolutely no exposition and are instead filled to the brim with more cheesy one-liners than you can shake a giraffe at. TL;DR, I enjoyed playing through RE6 but unlike 4 or 5, I have absolutely zero desire to ever play it again.

I beat Chris's campaign last night and played through the first chapter of Leon's.  Both were definitely better than Jake's- which I now wish I'd left for the end since it feels like add-on content for the other two.

I also like how much different Leon's game feels in comparison to the other two so far.  Not just the setting but the enemy types...it's as if Leon's is the classic RE2 survival horror, Jake's is RE3, and Chris has an RE5-style action/shooting game.

I do have to bitch about the end of Chris's game, however, as I died far too many times during an escape segment (you have to have literally PERFECT timing or you will die.  And you have no way of knowing if you're doing perfectly or not) and the final boss fight was annoying due to the low amount of ammo I had.  There is a way to get more ammo during this fight, but I see no way to do it with melee attacks without getting hurt.  I got lucky and got enough shotgun shells to beat this portion of the game.

Jake does have his own unique melee system, BTW.

Just finished Leon's story.  It was, overall, awesome, and I wish the other two campaigns were as good.  The only thing that dragged on was all the stuff with the last boss, which has been the same in all three main campaigns.

Leon's story had the best levels and had a great mix of pre and post-RE4 style game play and enemies.  If you started with Leon's campaign, don't expect Chris and Jake's to be the same.

Onto Ada Wong's story!

More challenging than the other stories and Ada is all slick n' stylish.  Am pleasantly surprised to find so much original content for her...the first level is completely original, too.

So I think the stories rank as Leon = Ada >>>>>>>>>>>> Chris >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jake for me.

Well, Ada's story starts off with levels that are as long as the others, but chapters 3 and 4 were like 30 minutes each and it doesn't look like chapter 5 is any longer.
