That original box art is seriously one of the most fuckin awesome things to ever sit on a computer store shelf. It looks like Drew Struzan painted it.

The original game was bloody tough.  Nice touch on how the opponent would always return your bow, though.  Twas a cultured fight!

Hope there is some facial animation ala Street Fighter 4, but that dude what is about to lay down a bitch slapping seems awfully stoic about it...

either way, china and japan are basically the same thing, so the change doesn't bother me.

I played the original a ton back in the day on the Apple IIe.

Is there a reason that the game looks like it's set in China?

Karate is Japanes- oh fuck it.

I played it on Apple //e, same as Herr Gundam.

I remember the first time I cleared the last enemy, and approached the princess. I didn't know to not stay in a fighting stance, man, I couldn't believe what happened. :lol

I remember at the very beginning of the game, when you climb up the cliff onto land, starting your journey, you can turn around and plummet to your death. My friends and I thought that was pretty funny.

Apple II (via the IIgs) for me too.  Thought the game was hard as hell and never did beat it.

Then later on this new game called "Prince Of Persia" came out and I wondered why the Karateka guy was in ancient Persia.   :P

Shit, it looks like Jordan Mechner is actually involved as opposed to just rubber-stamping it.

You all should read his book, it's awesome as fuck.

Demo was like Infinity Blade.  You move forward, fight dude in Punch Out rhythm style combat, move on to next dude.

I like that the game opens by telling you to turn off video processing junk to reduce input lag.  I wish all games had something like Rock Band to calibrate for whatever lag the display introduces.  Um Jammer Lammy is nigh unplayable on the PS3 (due to the PS1 emulator, I think).

OMG, I used to have that joystick. It really sucked. It had little trim adjusters under it, IIRC. It was always becoming misaligned.
