ex troopers demo

up on japanese psn and 3ds (if you have a japanese 3ds)

It's pretty fun.  It's like Kid Icarus 3DS ground sections, with finicky lock-on instead of free aim.  You even have that move where if you dash to evade an attack before it hits, you let off a more powerful counter-shot.  I don't know the history behind the game but it seems tuned for 3DS/handheld play.  There's a completion time ranking and all three missions had par times between 5 and 10 minutes.

PS3 port is sloppy (unless the 3ds version runs like peace walker psp bad).  Usually you expect 1080p and 60fps on these things.  This is maybe 720p (at least not 1080p) and has frame rate problems.  One of the levels runs at ~20 fps throughout.  There's not much going on with the game so I don't know what's up.

(it's also crazy animu.  random j-pop music, exaggerated bouncing breasts, guys with pink hair, and tons of cutscenes about friendship to skip.)

Bad frame rate, huh? That's a deal-breaker. Especially for a game I was barely interested in to begin with.

I downloaded the PS3 demo last night and played for a few minutes. The art style is great and I really love how it controls. Will definitely import this if a localized version doesn't get announced in the next ~6 months or so.

Uh, so others who tried the PS3 demo, how is the frame rate in the grassy level?  I checked the gaf thread and some people are calling the PS3 demo smooth.  Either my low standards aren't as low as I thought or my PS3 is dying.

fryinghigh's Kid Icarus ground level description made this game sound awful, but it's pretty good!  The demo was way, way too easy, but that aside it plays fine and I love the manga style.  Will definitely get the PS3 version.

The grassy level multiplayer demo definitely had some framerate issues.

Man, the demo alone is better than the entirety of Lost Planet 1. Not much of an achievement but still.

And the Kid Icarus comparisons aren't bad at all. Most of the concerns about that the ground sections in that game were attributed to the controls.

That's a pretty big deal.

What i'm saying is outside the controls, the ground sections weren't bad. the fast pace of the combat (on the ground sections) was slick and not too different from what's in this game.

Right...and what I'm saying is that shitty controls ruin everything.  EX Troopers (thankfully) does not in any way play like Kid Icarus does.

Has anyone here played both the 3DS and PS3 demos? I wonder if the comparisons are due to the lack of a second stick on the 3DS.

I wonder if the 3DS demo can use the circle pad pro?

Wish this game was coming out for Vita- cross-play online multiplayer would be great.  But it might be best to see how well it works on Street Fighter X Tekken before saying that.

Never played a MML game so I have no clue what the butthurt bitter tears that won't go away are about.

The second game ended on a cliff hanger ending, and it had been 10 years since MML2 when Capcom announced MML3. Of course there was gonna be tears.
