First game was great.
Well, I know to now ignore everything you say from now on. Thanks.
What was wrong with it other then the story, pacing, and the fact that it was a GoW clone?
Ironic post?
No. I don't care if an action game has a bad story. Zone of the Enders 2 has a terrible one as well. Still a great game. Pacing did'nt bother me, because the game was still fun and filled with at least pretty visuals. And well being a GoW clone and not a real Castlevannia dosent mean much to me since I don't know or care what a real Castlevannia is. Game might as well be a new ip. Regardless, I still know that the developers were aiming for GoW and well I think they did better since I dislike GoW anyway.
I don't care about those elements either, but it's not good by any stretch of the imagination that is my issue good sir!
Well why is'nt it good?
It's a terrible amalgam of terrible hp sink enemies, shitty shadow of the colossus-esque boss fights, bad auto platflorming and to top off this shit sandwich is the very nutty creamy green apple splatter sub 20fps framerate.
Well I just think the hp of the enemies played into using the games light and dark magic a lot, which to me was a nice addition to combat. It made me try and avoid as much as I could because I needed as much dark magic as possible. It added some tension to combat. Maybe that is just me dealing with a crappy thing, but I enjoyed it. I also think the game had enough moves to deal it, so I never say it as a problem.
While I can SOTC rip-off enemies as a problem. I don't really count them as they were just kind of there. I mean there was no difficulty to them and because of no stamina gauge, they lacked anything coming close to frustrating gameplay ,but I guess also lack of tension and well real player involvement. But to be honest SOTC's gameplay isn't why I like the game. I like it, in spite of the gameplay and because of the spectacle and idea of scaling the colosi. So the SOTC rip-off stuff still have the scale and visual coolness so I see no harm done.
The auto-platforming. Well I see nothing wrong here. It doesn't go to the depths of Enslaved and still feels like an actual game really. If anything I would complain about is the strange jumping. Either way I enjoyed it, if only because the enviorments are great looking, but honestly, call me crazy but I thought they did a good job with using the powers you gained over the course of the game and mixing them into the platforming. I remember the last level being extremely good with it's kind of platforming puzzles.
Either way, it was a good base game imo and I think it can only go up.
