Good or garbage?Mostly I'm just looking for some insight into how I should be passing judgement on the people I see wearing them—which is presumptively the reason they bought them.
I have a pair of Sennheiser HD650's. They're pretty boss.

I've seen a bunch of people with the earbuds too, which are fugly as shit and $150: (Image removed from quote.)the whole point of beats is to be seen with them-- I thought these were some Skullcandy bullshit. The cord is way thick and unwieldy.
yeah, I don't get how beats are supposed to be headphones for the style conscious, every pair I've seen is corny in that hip fashionable 'look at me' way.
Beats are fairly decent headphones that are moderately overpriced. If you are looking for the type of monitoring that Beats do, which is providing impressive and distinct bass, looking into Sennheisers would be a terrible mistake, as they are made for listening to entirely different types of music and their users expect a different sound.
This is as good a place as any:So my old earbuds are fucked up. I lent them to a friend a while back and now the right side is trashed, a in cuts in and out and when its working it barely shows a third of what it should. So I was wondering what are the best earbuds around? I'm more into that then headphones which I never got the appeal for.

They're pretty much industry-standard for EDM DJs.
Yep, probably the best earbuds you can get for $50.
