PLOT TWIST!

The segment which closed SmackDown this past Tuesday has already been mocked for a variety of reasons. Ridiculously produced, badly acted, and the latest example of WWE promising something - Roman Reigns announcing his SummerSlam opponent - and not delivering. But at least the scene of a production rig falling on the Big Dog gave us a mystery! Right!?!?!?


Well, WWE launched an “investigation” into the incident, and if we take it at face value, the case is closed.

“In the final moments of this week’s SmackDown LIVE, Roman Reigns was intending to make a SummerSlam challenge from the backstage area, but The Big Dog just barely evaded sheer catastrophe when tons of steel beams came plummeting toward him.

A preliminary investigation has found the incident Tuesday night involving Roman Reigns was caused by a forklift backstage carrying lighting grids that were not properly secured.

Update to story - 10:40 a.m. ET

It has now been determined that the incident in question was specifically caused by a forklift driver error.”

Do they even pretend there's a roster split anymore? Looking at the results it looks like it was almost entirely Smackdown talent(New Day, Kabookey Warriors, IIconics, Mandy/Sonya, Rey, Andrade, Joe, Roman, Dog Ziggler, Charlotte).

They really had Goldberg AND Trish (in a match!) without any hype ahead of time?

There were a lot of changes to last night's Smackdown episode.  The original plan for last night's Smackdown episode was to feature Kofi Kingston vs. Andrade in the main event.  However, once WWE had their production meeting for the show, plans were changed and the new main event was to be Xavier Woods & Kingston teaming against Daniel Bryan and Rowan.  However, about an hour before the show went on the air, the decision was made to pull Kingston from the main event and replace him with Big E.  We are told all the changes were Vince McMahon calls.

Originally, the Summerslam card was to have featured Roman Reigns against Daniel Bryan, but the word making the rounds at TV last night was that the bout will likely be dropped in order to let the current storyline play out.

The Daniel Bryan career announcement has also appeared to have been dropped, unless WWE decides to work that back into a storyline.  There was zero mention of it last night backstage.

Last night's Smackdown ended with a reveal that Rowan was responsible for the attacks on Roman Reigns, but we are told that may not be 100% set in stone as other ideas have been pitched.  Reigns is slated to wrestle Daniel Bryan on a TON of live events coming out of Summerslam.

It was just a few weeks ago where Vince admitted he was too old for this shit and couldn't be in the weeds anymore, yet since then he's completely rewritten every SD up to the hour before show time and is changing/dropping angles from week to week without any forethought at all.

Roman then threw him around the locker room for a few mins and Buddy said it was Rowan.

This was all broadcast on the Titantron and Smackdown ended with a shot of Bryan and Rowan (who just finished a match with New Day) from behind watching it the screen. No real resolution or dialogue or anything.
