Oh just a quick follow up to the Invasion bullshit, because it's hilarious how they gave no fucks immediately after:
The next night on Raw, Kurt Angle, who started the Invasion as a comedy heel, then turned comedy face, then turned super intense face, then went back to comedy face, then comedy heel, then intense heel, then turned face at Survivor Series where he revealed his last heel turn was actually a ruse all along and he was a double agent and was really a face the whole time...is now again an actual heel. Vince tries to strip Austin of the WWF Championship and give it to Kurt Angle, but Ric Flair comes out and reveals that the unknown buyer who Shane and Steph sold their stock to to buy WCW/ECW in the first place was him. THE CONSORTIUM WAS ME, WHOOOOOOOOOOO! So, as half owner, Ric vetoes Vince's idea to strip Austin.
The Alliance guys that were champions after Survivor Series (Christian, Dudleys, RVD, Test who won immunity) were all being punished by Vince on Raw. Regal was rehired for literally kissing Vince's ass in the middle of the ring. On Smackdown, the entire group (minus RVD) ganged up and beat up Austin (who had immediately turned face on Raw and definitely 100% on Smackdown), and Vince started giving them big matches and title shots and said they were like family. Jericho also teamed up with the Dudleys to face Rock/RVD. Undertaker started his heel turn over not being respected enough by Vince to be told about Kurt being the mole or being asked to be the mole himself and instead of taking it out on Vince he starts taking it out on faces and people like JR.
Tazz was rehired (of screen) by Vince for choking Heyman out on the SD before Survivor Series. Stacy got to tag along with the Dudleys. Booker gets hired back by Vince in December to fuck with Austin (with Big Boss Man as his heavy who despite the name was dressing as Big Bubba). Chuck Palumbo had been hired by the WWF and introduced as Billy Gunn's new partner right before Survivor Series. Lance Storm would do an angle where he was working in the buildings WWE was running TV at (what a coincidence) until he got to have a match with a contract at stake and eventually won his job back via count out victory over Rock

. I don't think any DDP or Hurricane had any angles to bring them back, and the rest of the guys (Kidman, Justin Credible, Raven, Dreamer, Hugh Morrus, etc) just kind of trickled back in on the C shows or were just back after the draft.
So basically, the night after the Invasion angle that has the WWF as faces and WCW as heels
Vince (personification of WWF) was a heel
Ric Flair (personification of WCW) was a face
Kurt Angle (who was the top face in the summer months and was a double agent who saved the WWF) was a heel
Steve Austin (who was the top heel and leader of the Alliance) was a face
Vince was BFFs with the remaining Alliance members and booking them in favorable matches
