i am really enjoying this

it has a late 90's (or is it more turn of the millenium) throwback thing in the arrangement and the relative naivete of the lyrics. i haven't heard anything else by ms. grande but i appreciate the lack of histrionics on this song. it kind of reminded me of this underappreciated jibbs song from 2006. polow da don was really on a tear 2006-2007, producing Glamourous, London Bridge, Promise by Ciara, Buttons by Pussycat Ds, and Throw Some Ds amongst many.

think i like charlie xcx less and less. her aesthetic is incredibly affected and hell of derivative. there's barely a thing i can even remember after listening to this song (for the third time). does anyone really need to be told that what they're listening to is super cool? is there anyone that won't cringe on hearing her claim that "this shit is kinda gangster"? she's waay more tolerable when restrained as on nuclear seasons but even then she brings little to the table.

the start of psy's new video is kind of troubling in how mean-spirited and seemingly misogynist it is. does the ending validate the cruelty of the premise? the song itself is just as bland as gangnam style.

So this came out on the 16th, and I had the horrid misfortune of finally getting around to listening to it last night.

This is probably one of the most mediocre works I've heard out of a pop girl since Lady Gaga's ARTPOP. Like, 10 of the 21 tracks are maybe worth a damn. It peaks at Loyal (aka the third song) and then meanders with no direction until the end. Chris could probably have shaved off 8 or 9 songs and saved us all the harddrive space. It's completely full of unoriginal filler.

I shouldn't have been expecting much out of Fist Brown in the first place, but after 'Loyal' and 'Fine China,' I have to admit I had my hopes up.
