Himu's approaching it as a customer, though.  Lots of nice people working very hard in the business, doesn't mean people shouldn't :yuck their games.

Sure, but we're just having a casual conversation here. This ain't no BUSINESS 101 thread.

Mighty No. 9 new campaign :what

http://www.mightyno9.com/

$100k for English VA :comeon

Sweet, now we get to relive Mega Man X7's Oscar-worthy cutscenes all over again! :picard Why does this game even have cutscenes/VA's in the first place?!?

Somewhat regretting my funding of this. Ugh.

Also, an Animated Series, because why not, Sonic Boom's getting one so why not expy-Megaman.

People are pissed, going by the GAF thread. Already a proto-storm brewing, I can feel it.

I'd be all for the animated series if the game was out. But this feels like putting the carriage before the horse. Not including English VA when most of the backers were in the US is going to do them no favors, either.

Seriously, though, If they really wanted to get more money, they should have made the inclusion of Japanese VA a stretch goal.

Eh.

MN9 looks like a literal remake of a NES Mega Man game. SK is retro but at least  it's not a carbon copy.

Wanna play MN9? Then fire up MM2. :hitler Hell, I doubt MN9 will be as good as that game.

Looks more like the Zero games to me.  I've already played through MM2 probably 50-60 times.  I want something "new" that builds on the formula evolved over the games that followed in the 20 years after that game.  MN9 has a good chance of delivering that.

But I can tell you're a real fan of MM games what with the "MM hasn't changed since MM2 hur hur" crack.

Lol, that wasn't what I was implying at all. Whatever.

It's doesn't literally reuse the template from one of those games though.

9 bosses, steal powers from those bosses, X buster... MN9 is much, much closer to a MM game than SK is to any nameless Capcom game.

Bought and started playing Planet Explorers since it was only $15:

It's sort of like Monster Hunter + Minecraft, a survivor/builder with npcs and quests. You've got this big, open world and the game gives you lots of resources and tools to do things with [make equipment, build vehicles and shelters, ect.], but it's also got a singleplayer mode where you play the survivor of a colony ship that crash landed on an Earth-like planet and it's up to you to round up the other survivors and help them to not die from being attacked by huge alien creatures. Would recommend it to someone who wants the creativity of Minecraft with more structure and purpose [plus, the graphics and art are actually pretty nice to look at].

Hope it's good.  I like the budget style they went with.  Fairly cheap to make but still looks like a classy throwback.  Wish more indie games went that way rather than 8-bit style.

That Super Famicom book was canceled to no one's surprise. I backed it on the off chance I'd get a nicely printed book from someone who's never heard of a legal system but it looks like he had enough intellect to figure out that he needs to get permission to sell someone else's artwork so it canned it immediately.

I'm surprised this "only" has $38k. The game has a novel concept, great art design, a seemingly solid team and has surpassed its base goal.

Finally tried Dead State since it went final last week.  My experience was getting a quest to grab some items, going to town and then not having enough inventory capacity to hold the items, then dropping all my stuff to grab them, head out of town and game crashes to desktop.

...seems interesting but I'll wait for another 6 months of patches and maybe fan mods.

Here's a Kickstarter game to keep an eye on:

It's a first-person turn-based party RPG with grids in a scifi setting. Right now it's in Steam Early Access and I'd say it's still a good ways from being finished, but the basic foundation is really solid and the main issues at this point is to flesh the whole thing out with a lot more content.

The basic setup is that you work out of a hub area [where you can get new gear, heal up, and recruit more party members] and take a variety of missions, and each mission will present you with choices on how you finish them [help one corporation for better pay but risk pissing off another, for example]. Your reputation with the various factions is fairly prominent, but it's not clear yet exactly how that's going to affect the later parts of the game. Lots of variety in the character classes and they've got a suitable scifi flavor, even if they're essentially scifi analogs of basic fantasy RPG classes. Locations are nice and moody, with lots of dark, derelict space vessels where the crew has mysteriously vanished without a trace, and a solid soundtrack to back it all up.

This is almost completed, by the way. The current version is feature and content complete, just needs some more polish and bug-fixes is all.
