No, it's really not. Gary made some comments that anyone with any sense would make, and is now in a position where those comments could potentially hurt his career after being offered the job of a lifetime (which he surely had no idea would be on the agenda at the time). Once you're on someone's payroll, what you say impacts them too, so he edited out some old posts to try to damage control any potential PR fallout.

Why exactly is he being shamed for it? This isn't an Amir0x situation where he's caught in a lie.

Nothing should make you feel better about Whitta writing the script, it's consistently been the worst aspect of the the movies he's been involved with.

I'm not a fan of Whitta (I agree with what Rumbler said) but I'm genuinely ecstatic that he managed to finagle his way into some impressive projects. It's genuinely awesome that a guy who used to write about video games now has the chance to work on one of the most celebrated franchises in movie history. I can't hate on that and no one should.
