0083 is dogshit that just happens to be the best looking Gundam thing out there. Dosen't change that it has the most boring cast ever. Hey I'm Kou Araki, do you remember anything about me? No. How about my annoying and bitchy love interests Nina who somehow randomly was also involved in the one note Villain? We're any of these characters engaging or thier plot that in the end could have easily been left un-told? Nope. Extra points if you watch last Bits of Zeon where somehow Nina is even more clueless about her own life.
There's nothing great about Victory which is just Tomino jerking off himself as he spits in your eye trying to make you feel depressed. Zeta may be the most terrible paced show out there. Yep, its the eve before the big factions make thier move, lets bring back a character no one remembers to have pointless antics! Why did we bring Four back after she died again? Who knows? Was it a good idea to put a a few disconnected Rosammy episodes that hurt the show's momentum? Not really. Oh maybe Zeta will get better with those movies. Oh wait they kind of forgot to include important character building for Char, that was a good idea. Lets not even talk about ZZ.
How the hell is F91 solid when it feels like it's by the numbers? Have a Gundam main character feel bad about killing for a second? Check. Have dashing blonde character without actual substance? Check. Have insane political agenda villains that are obviously wrong? Check. Ok you've made the most formulaic Gundam thing and then crammed it together and created a big mess.
Wing. Wing is almost a comedy in how stupid it can get. I mean Jesus you can easily take Wu Fei out of the show and really only one thing changes and honestly that change would for the better as now maybe one of the more charismatic characters in the show wouldn't die so stupidly. Endless Waltz is about how the earth was invaded and taken over because they literally had no army. Great animation and mech designs can't stop a movie that gets terrible with each repeated viewing.

I mean really Endless Waltz is pretty awful. Frozen Teardrop and Glory of Losers are almost parody.
O8th MS Team would have been better, but the 2nd half is kind of weak. The last episode also sucks.
I would say something bad about Seed, but I like that show unfortunately.
Char's Counter Attack has Quess who almost brings that movie down.
Add in the fact that Seed Destiny is awful. 00 shits the bed and AGE is best left un-noticed and you have a series that hasn't had a good television show in years and I can't really see as ever consistent.
The best thing right now in Gundam is The Origin. Unicorn is ok, but it's not like its some amazing thing. It still in the end has that awkward version of Gundam character development which is really "i guess I feel this way so I care for you because I felt something". Honestly, Gundam is looking like the more inconsistent franchisee here.

Bad-ZZ, Victory, 0083, F91, Wing, EW, Seed Destiny, 00(Season 1 may have been great, but everything else trashed that idea), AGE.
I guess there are more good shows then bad ones, but it sure dosen't seem like it, especially not recently.
And a lot of Gundam takes it self serious. Which is unlike most Macross. I'm not sure how Macross 7 is mediocre when it realizes how dumb Macross is and goes full force. The main character rocks out alien enemies and there are Government sponsored music bands made to fight space aliens. It's so ludicrous it's fun. Macross F the tv show was bad, but one character does not make the show uguu and either way the movies made up for it. Besides, I'd take that over Gundam AGE or whatever the hell the 00 movie was. Yep, all these interesting plot lines where headed to talking to metallic aliens and space flowers. Yeah, I'm happy I invested time into this show.
The only really bad Macross is Zero. Yet in a world where 0083 is apparently good(only because of the art and animation) I'm not sure what makes Zero so terrible. Bird people and an unfullfilling ending sure, but man that first episode.
