Since you two beat it, what are some general things to keep in mind? Or make easier?

- keep gifting your demons shit to keep them happy
- don't forget to trade mag for money to get cooler weapons
- guns are pretty fun for the MC
- keep fusing demons to make more powerful ones, don't get attached to them, you can make them hump and enjoy their even more powerful children
- install the save anywhere back upper in your comp, this game is pretty buggy
- find a demon with Media and have them cast that every turn as the rest of your guys go apeshit attacking
- hack the planet

What I did for success:

- Dump all of your stat points on strength for the main character.
- Dump all of your stat points on magic for Nemissa, she becomes hideously powerful if you do it this way.  Your stats are capped at 40 for each attribute.  Once I hit 40, I started building agility.
- Have some demons who can run media, can revive an ally, and can cure ailments.  Always less costly overall than to use items which I always treated as a last resort.
- Install the save anywhere module.  Save points are few and far between and the game locked up on me about a dozen times.  Save at critical moments like clearing a floor or before you go into a boss area.
- Explore dungeons, rack up mag, and open up chests.
- Build up demon loyalty if they're worth keeping around.
- Trade in your mag for money.  If you do enough grindan at the beginning, you will never run out of mag.  Be sure to have enough for a full demon party though.

The loyalty system is super annoying. How do I get them to do whatever I say regardless? I AM YOUR MASTER

Do I constantly have to monitor their loyalty? How does personality play into things?

To increase loyalty you have to feed the demons food drops (chicken carcasses, goat heads) or give them jewels (sapphire, etc). Some won't accept anything and will become more loyal the more you use them. And if you fuse the demon into a new one the loyalty will likely stay the same.

You give gifts like food, jewels, or just understand what the demon wants to do and then let them do it.  There are also certain attributes of the demons that lends itself towards certain behavior.  If you have a kind demon, choosing it to guard will increase loyalty.  If you have a wild or a dumb demon, telling it to guard might result in the demon telling you to go fuck yourself and does what it wants to do anyway.  If the loyalty drops too low, the demon will just leave.  I had a demon at the beginning of the game leave after a battle because of low loyalty.  However if you have a very loyal kind demon, that demon will often sacrifice itself so the main character doesn't die.  You also get items that allow you to change the type of demon you have as well.

I suppose that makes sense, Kind demons don't want to fight much then?

Soundslike Kind should be reserved for a healer, while Wild or something should be more Attack focused.

I really want to finish this game before starting SMT4 and have been playing it for awhile but am stuck on the stupid factor manager.

I don't know what to do, my characters are strong enough to survive his shit, but my strength attacks and Nemissa's magic only do around a hundred damage each.  Two of the demons are dedicated to healing, and I can't find two to help me take him down.  Most of the high-level demons I can fuse that might have useful skills won't use them in battle due to their personality type or some shit, casting useless skills like the one that reflects magic after the guy already moved.  It's just a slog, I just keep fighting away until I run out of MP and that's the end of it.

I just slowly chipped away while the demons kept healing.

Finally beat the asshole, just grinded for a few levels until I could fuse stronger demons and used items to increase their loyalty so that they would cast the skills that would help.  Even then it was a close call, literally was out of MP and my main character was one more hit from dying.  Now to go through this vision quest with no demons to back me up!

Up to the end of the Monolith... how much longer is the game? This is where the FAQ on gamefaqs suddenly ends...
