i was pretty into watching speed run stuff for a bit, but i was smoking lots of weed at the time. Got me back into retro stuff big time though, which has stuck with me. There are still a few good ones that I'll throw on every once in a while. Romscout is usually playing castlevania or some other good game, usually has good chat, and other guests in skype that seem like normal people who know a lot about games. AGDQ and other marathons are always fun to watch and leave on all day.
Not nearly as into fighting game weekly streams as I used to be, but that's partially because Marvel weeklies and anything but big majors are predictable and I just got sick of watching any other fighter, except AE when international players are here. I'll watch WakeUpSRK and UltraChen though, since the hosts are interesting and do good recaps and analysis.
This is one of those things where I feel really out of touch. I don't get this, and all this twitch.tv type stuff. Even in every day real life, I hate watching other people play when I could be playing myself, why would I sit on a computer and watch other people have fun? I suppose I can imagine it being mildly entertaining if the person you watch is exceptionally good or shit
are the broadcasts spiced up by requests and such? Is there group chat or something? Being sincere here
There are people who are exceptionally good at games, tournies, marathons, and other guys who just play random games and are entertaining enough to listen to. there's chat which ranges from small and good to /b/-like mayhem. Speed run marathons usually have donation incentives to put a twist on a game or have someone play it an exceptionally hard way and lots of requests and such. When you have someone who is good and explains what they're doing the whole time, it's pretty interesting if you like nerding out on the technical aspects of games and how they can be messed with/exploited. One guy does a 20-something minute OOT run that is just completely non-sense and awesome.
