I cannot get over that. Also, despite not totally hating the rolling-pin effect, I miss the screen-scrolling grid of the original Animal Crossing as it reminds me of the 2D Zelda games. However, the sequels have done so much to enrich the gameplay with actual things to do that it's impossible for me to go back and enjoy the original.

Still, the hidden NES games

Here are the petty annoyances I had with the sequels:

The weird rolling effect, as you said. I also don't hate it anymore.
Replacing the cool train with an awful ugly sheer cliffside and "gate."
Turning Copper/Booker into stupid English guard-looking goobers instead of actual cops.
Loss of the island.
In City Folk, how it took like 2 minutes to go to the City each way.
Breaking up the player housing so it wasn't a "plaza" for the human characters.

So, New Leaf has solved like three of these uber-petty issues, and I also forgive that last one since you can finally choose where your house should be. But where are Copper/Booker anyways?

Tiffany got super passive-aggressive when I complimented her room. She asked me what I thought of it, and the options where something like:

1. "It's great!"
2. "It's okay."
3. "I don't like it."

And so I told it was great, and she's all like, "Thanks for saying that, but I know I just have to work harder to earn your praise" or something like that, and I'm like wtf?

Then the today she sends me a letter that says "Now for the first time, I know what it feels like to be pitied and it wasn't a good feeling. I'll just have to work harder."
