Nintendo's strategy: remake all those 3DS games people liked. But somehow take forever on it.
This is what alarms me the most. This seems like all filler no killer...
NSMB U was fun while it lasted, and more fun than it looks actually, but I think it failed to ignite excitement because it looked so similar to NSMB2 and NSMB Wii.
Now we've got...
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze... looking like the recent Donkey Kong Country Returns / 3D
Wii Party U... looking like Wii Party
Super Mario 3D World... looking like Super Mario 3D Land
Mario Kart 8... looking exactly like Mario Kart 7 + Mario Kart Wii
Wind Waker HD looking unsurprisingly a lot like Wind Waker, with no news of the enhancements to gameplay outside of message bottles
X looks great, but that too looks a bit like Xenoblade with Gundam Wings.
What I've no doubt about is that a lot of these games will be fun... DKCR was one of the best games last gen, and a multiplayer SM3D Land style game will be amazing. I'll pour hours into Art Academy, so I was happy to hear that's coming soon in some form. Will I be able to play online with anyone I know, in games like Mario Kart 8, if Nintendo fail to get people excited about the system? I think not.
No price drop announcement really has my mind melting. I know E3 has just started, but Nintendo and their marketing team seem blissfully unaware of how terrible they are doing.
