Blow gets hate because of the way he speaks. If he put forth the same concepts and ideas with a lot of BRO thrown in, he'd get less hate. I know am reducing it down in a pretty dismissive way, but it's hard not to see that sort of pattern in the way people react to Blow. It's perfectly adult and okay to talk about matters which are not life or death with sincere intentions and reason. Some parts of the population haven't reached that point in their life where they can do that, and react rather adversely to those who do.

Esch, the Amnesia developers actually do write a fair bit about other games and trends and such on their blog.

Lots of people do. Gamers by and large just don't care. Actual real game dev talk is generally much different than what happens when Blow or Fish make the blogs.

I was a bit surprised when Frictional's post about Dead Space 2 (which offered a very negative and strong opinion) didn't kick off some shit-tossing on forums.

Yeah CliffyB is just as bad, but on the opposite end of the spectrum.

At least he has some balls though and doesn't quit the game industry cause someone called him some names.

Plus he has a 25 year track record in the industry.
