Vancouver (Canada) Bore
« on: September 11, 2013, 02:22:01 PM »
Still have to confirm some things but I might be heading your way this November for a few days.

What should I do while I'm up there? Should I meet any of you degenerates? Does anyone actually live in Vancouver or is it a bunch of half-frozen zombies saying "brains ehhh?"

I know Vancouver pretty well. Wife and I go up there at least twice a year.

Brunch and beers at Alibi Room. Dinner at Bin 941. Go for a walk/run around Stanley Park.

Stand outside the now-defunct Book Off and cry.

One is a scuzzy suburb of Portland, OR.

The other is a bustling metropolis full of nice people who say about funny.

If it is WA, I recommend staying in Portland and renting a car or something. Vancouver sucks. We could do drinks, maybe even with Devo! I'd offer to smoke you out too but I don't know if that's your style.

NEVERMIND MESSAGE VOID, y'all goin to Canada

I hate that.

If you're gonna film it in Vancouver, just make it Vancouver. Stop trying to pass off Vancouver as Seattle.

50/50 was the worst. They inserted the Space Needle into a shot on Robson Street with the street signs saying Pike.

Slightly colder than Seattle, but not too bad. Lots of gray and rain.

Colder than Boston/CT? Those are my points of references.

Not even close. Mid 40s-50s, drizzle and gray skies. Vancouver gets more snow than Seattle, but nothing close to Boston.

That's what I get for thinking all of Canada is the same. :derp

I've been up there during a snowstorm (that was also hitting Seattle and would probably make you guys in the midwest and east coast laugh), but for the most part coastal BC is warmer due to the ocean currents and tradewinds. The rest of Canada is pretty damn cold, though.

Yeah, who'd a thunk that the world's second largest country by area might have variations in its geography and climate?  :derp

You all sound funny, though. ;-)

Blows my mind that people who live in Blaine, WA have one accent while people who live three miles across the border in Surrey, BC have a totally different accent.

Europe's like that everywhere. Especially in regions where two or more larger dialects meet. Almost every dinky little village will have its own variant.
