Any of my BoreBros been on a cruise?
« on: January 27, 2014, 12:50:17 PM »
I'm looking to take the future-wife on a cruise for our honeymoon.  She's planning the wedding, so this is my part.  I know this will sound cheap, but I don't want to pay a buttload of money for this thing without knowing what I'm getting.

An acquaintance of mine is a travel agent, and he's always offering to get me "deals" on a cruise.  Those deals usually end up costing about $1000 to $1500 for two people when everything is said and done.

Now, he's told me about this cruise with Royal Caribbean  and says he can get me the whole thing with an ocean view room for $1031 with tips and insurance included.

Is this a good deal, or should I look at Carnival or one of the other cruise lines?

After you smang it up to the sound of ocean waves (ultimately disappointing her with your bedroom feats), you can relieve yourself by vomiting and diarrhea.

That's not a bad price for two people for Royal Caribbean.  I've never been on a cruise but my wife and I are always looking at prices because we want to.  That's pretty cheap from what I've seen.  But with all the bad news surrounding cruises the last couple of years we haven't really had the heart to jump on anything.

Went on a week long cruise to the Cayman Islands in late 2001. One of the most entertaining things I've ever done.

Do an all inclusive resort instead. You'll end up saving money when you consider all the drinks and extras on the cruise you have to pay for. Plus better food and booze.

Yeah, a few years ago I went on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas. I had a pretty nice time, but it was kind of a bum trip since I went with my friend and he was bummed after a divorce so he didn't want to do anything but sleep the whole trip. When we went to port though, I wasn't a fan of it... don't particularly care for the Bahamas.

Food on the cruise was great and they give you a ton of it.

Yep. Bring an extra grand for food and booze.

From what I've seen, the dining is included on these cruises.  Neither of us really drink, either, so that wouldn't be a problem.  I've not had more than a glass of bourbon in the past 8 months, and I think she's had even less than that.

After you smang it up to the sound of ocean waves (ultimately disappointing her with your bedroom feats), you can relieve yourself by vomiting and diarrhea.

So, I get sex and I come back skinnier than when I left?  What am I missing that makes this bad?

What kind of resorts would you recommend?

Thing is, I've not done much real vacationing.  I usually don't do more than a couple days getaway, the last time I spent time at a beach was with a couple of friends, my kids, and their kids, so I didn't do much relaxing.

I'm really terrible at planning vacations, and even worse with a honeymoon.

I dont have any specific recommendations, but I have cousins that have done ones in mexico and the Philippians maybe? I had two groups of family members go on trips at the same time, one on a cruise and one to a resort, and the cruise group ended up spending more overall.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but here are two websites to look into

looking into a local travel agent may not be a bad idea

If your not looking to drink, then maybe a cruise would be the way to go. I just think cruises are kinda gross based on the ones I've been on.

I like private resorts better, but cruises are cheaper overall (even when you factor in alcohol and other incidentals). They just feel a little bit 'trashier' and cramped than a resort.

It's still a great experience if you've never done one before.
