I've seen that point brought up and governments do bail out companies all the time but is it really common sense they should have done that here ?
I think in the longer term it would have been the better idea than just to let it bounce,
the problem is that all the job losses here and loss of taxable revenue will later fuck the economy harder than a bailout to be paid back across x number of months.
21,000 people now suddenly out of work and now will no doubt be going onto welfare until they can find other opportunities,
the issue is quite a lot of these staff will be low skilled workers so finding them a job in the long run with a failing high street will be difficult.
