Funny story about this movie

The theme in the beginning was created by a famous songwriter who did a bunch of western movies and shows. He said he cried when he created this piece, not knowing it wasn't for a serious movie at the time. No one told him it was for a comedy, let alone a satire of western movies. Well played Mel Brooks, well played good sir!

I still think Spaceballs is the better movie and I love Blazing Saddles

I'm a Young Frankenstein man myself, but it's all good.  Mel Brooks was sort of a generational bridge.  As a kid I could watch his stuff with my parents or with my grandparents from either side of the family.

This movie is pretty awesome, but I love History of the World Part 1 much, much more. Real talk all of Mel Brooks' movies are pretty fantastic.

What did you think of the remake of The Producers? I haven't seen the Broadway play it's based on, but I really didn't care for it.

nobody here is wrong, great movies all.

can somebody explain to me how Cleavon Little never had a significant career after starring in one of the biggest comedies of all time?  I mean, besides racism.

Me too, it's criminally under appreciated. I remember watching it as young teenager before the interwebs and trying to find out somehow if there was a part 2 :(

I'm really, really bad when it comes to seeing movies.

I haven't even seen any of the LoTR films, Dirty Harry, or Citizen Kane.  :yeshrug

Spaceballs is good, but wouldn't be nearly as funny without the Star Wars shtick.

Blazing Saddles is amazing.

I think Spaceballs is good in spite of the Star Wars schtick. All the best jokes have nothing to do with Star Wars.

So basically you're saying he was an earlier generations Adam Sandler?  Everyone loves him!

Airplane! is pretty amazing, Airplane II is just kinda flat except for the great scene at the end with William Shatner.
