Yeah XBLA was basically a pit of despair. I remember asking my boss why we couldn't do XBLA/PSN games instead of PSP games and he told me that we'd have to get 4 of them at a time to keep the studio afloat. The budgets on them were even lower than PSP games apparently. I remember places like Twisted Pixel that attempted it, and I contracted on that Lara Croft downloadable piece of shit (which they had probably 30-40 people on and expected 1 million+ in sales). It wasn't until sub 10 man Indie teams that gave up on XBLIG and got on to XBLA that anyone really started making money on XBLA/PSN, which again is why that makes up the bulk of the games on those services these days.

Now... , right? Lara and the Guardian of Light isn't bad. That said, expecting 1 million digital sales at that time? The fuck, Square?

I'm just salty because Square Enix Eidos and Crystal Dynamics are shady assholes who owe me a lot of money that they didn't pay my employer and thus didn't pay me. Working on that game is what made me realize I never want to work for a large game studio or corporation in general. Crystal Dynamics had some of the worst humans I have ever met.
