So...the preservation and purity of the white race?
Shouldn't you be out somewhere oppressing the transgendered?

Kinda thought that fell into your wheelhouse man.

:yeshrug
Nope. Muslims during the week, gypsies on the weekend. I'm only one man. Had to outsource some work to PD.

Imagine if The Order was released in 2008 or 2010. The era before we had YouTube walkthroughs. Life would have been much more peaceful. *sigh*

All that astroturfing and they fell at the final hurdle. Who was it who said Sony stans would take aim at Let Play's.

Looks like that's next on the agenda.   :lol

Don't get me wrong: You're a free (wo)man and able to do what you want. But IIRC you came out as transgender(?), and OPA doesn't seem like the place that would go over well. I dunno why anyone would post there with that sort of "hate." Then again, same for the subreddit thing.

I'd always had a certain assumption about who they (OPA) were and how they act, but given that I'm now asking people to give me a chance based on who I am, not what their first impression or expectations or assumptions might be, I figured it's only fair for me to do that in return. I'm only a casual visitor over there, but in the small amount of interactions I've had, there's actually been a lot of people who have been willing to give me a chance and give me some level of respect. Sure, there are people over there who seems to really dislike me (either because of me me, or what I am), and it's certainly not a place I'd say is friendly to everyone, but they aren't the evil, horrible trolls I probably assumed they were at some point.

And, really, I myself wouldn't lump them together with the folks in that particular subreddit. I think that's a whole different beast.

Hi shidoshi! (Check your PM's)

I guess, maybe, I'm not allowed to use PMs? I have one from back in 2010, but that's it, and I tried to send one and now it doesn't show up in my Sent folder.

Edit: Okay, WEIRD, as soon as I post that, I'm getting PMs showing up in my box.

I don't really get the hype for The Order.

It's a gears of war type shootman game with a victorian veneer from ready at dawn? ???

Since when did Ready At Dawn have forum soldiers? All they have done is ports and PSP spin-offs.

Shouldn't console warriors focus their efforts on Bloodborne? Whether The Order is 5 hours or 10 hours is immaterial since it's a perfunctory release either way, you play it once and then play something else. At least with Bloodborne there is "the true Dark Souls sequel" type rhetoric since Miyazaki is directing it and features like the chalice dungeon could be cited as the next generation in Dark Souls type play.

forum dregs can't even do the one thing they dedicate their lives to properly smh

Speaking of which, I was reading the first issue of Game GO! mag, a short-lived (I think there was only one issue) magazine, by ECM of Gamefan fame, that focused on Japanese/retro/enthusiast gaming, with a politically-incorrect tone (aka, totally up my alley). And then I remember reading that they were getting back famed Gamefan writer Shidoshi. So yeah, wonder whatever happened to that second issue?

The same reason GAF was so eager to tell us that Ryse was under-rated or Killzone is such an underated frachise or Fable is an under-rated franchise, or Drive Club is such an under-rated game. There just happen to be more Sony fanboys on GAF than the other platforms.

Honestly the whole order thing seems relatively tame compared to what I remember from Killzone 2.

To be fair, GAF seems to be more Nintendo focused these days strangely.  But the Nintendo fans tend to carve themselves into little communities in the site and don't really bother others much.

Man, I usually get the opposite vibe. It's usually the Ninthings that cry the ludest about how good their latest underselling game is (creating a gazillion threads in the process), where the Sony stans actively look for singular threads to turn into a hugbox for seclusion.

Remember when Smash 3DS came out and there were three to four different threads where you could post about the same game?

why is gaf so desperate to tell us that the order is such an awesome game?

You can replace "the order" with "every tentpole first part game". Every time a new game that stans perceive as a major release (even if it's not_, a dedicated few will make sure to flood GAF with threads about every little detail related to a game. See: 135 threads with Hyrule Warriors in the title ("Dynasty Warriors", which would cover eight games + a gazillion expansions, only has 27 more threads to its name.) To this day I don't understand the point of making 21 different character trailer threads when you could just make one thread for all of them.

It's just a symptom of the problem of game development budgets that are out of control. Companies go out and put out a massive amount of hype to try and get the biggest # of sales and sell it as the end all be all to be able to compete against everyone else doing exactly the same thing. Then when it comes out and disappoints people dig in further.

Horizon 2 was the reason I haven't sold mine yet (As well as Killer Instinct Season 2) and it's getting a ton more use these days even if I mainly stick to PC. Honestly if they even started doing cross buy with the Bone and PC I'd probably keep the bone in use. Feels like it's going to become like the PS3 last gen. Less pressure to deliver massive hits so they will be more in line to go with quirky things like Screamride and Ori. I'd buy a PS4 when it starts getting the games I want but those seem in short supply and by the time Gran Turismo 7 is playable in 2017 it will be almost time for a new gen.

Wii U is gathering dust tho'. I'm in the minority but damn Smash is bad compared to what came before :tocry

i left a "the order: 1886" playthrough running on my second monitor, here's what you're all missing by not shedding the pithy 60 notes required to fill your life with excellence:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
you're the order, you fight werewolves for no discernible reason with your friends frenchman, an mentor and an female. no one exists for any other reason than to make stoic quips and spout exposition.

you fight rebels until it turns out the rebels are actually fighting against the real evil, the protected united india company, who are shipping vampires in crates all over the world for no discernible reason beyond it it being evil.

you try to murder the head of the UIC, a vampire (who is also jack the ripper! that's why nobody can find him!) and get double crossed by your the order: 1886 buddy and are put on the order: 1886 trial and sentenced to death. they are oblivious to everything going on.

you escape, return to the order: 1886 to murder the double-crosser, who is the adopted son of the head of the order: 1886 and also a werewolf. dad comes in and tells you to kill him, keep everything a secret and become batman. you do this for no discernible reason.

the end.

some of the VO is pretty okay but the writing is so clichéd and awful you can almost smell the cheesy wotsits on the valor cape and dandruff coated fedora of whoever penned it. literally anything (every single plot moving element) that happens other than "mow down geezers in the street" is either a straight up movie or a QTE addled cut-scene. the final boss is a recycled QTE encounter from the first half of the game.

To be fair, that came after I had said that he'd had to be kept in line to some degree by the other Play staff (which, I mean, was true), and how it seemed like he was thinking of making more of a push toward doing positive write-ups in exchange for ad dollars.

Jesus, someone has actually sat down and timed the ratio of cutscenes to gameplay in that five hour YouTube playthrough of The Order. Broken it down by chapters no less. It hurts me to see a life wasted so frivolously.

The idiocy surrounding the game is so powerful that I think I'll ask for my copy in a brown paper bag. I guess I can reuse the bag next time I'm vetting potential neighbours.
