Depends on weight, age, and gender. Usually about two drinks will put me over 0.08 so this guy had to know he would be over unless he never wondered how much he could drink and drive.

Driving in SF is the biggest pain in the ass, I can't imagine doing that city with a MT.

I haven't lived anywhere that steep but I've driven through a lot and its all right. Driving an underpowered car up those hills is more frustrating. The only time automatics really help is in stop and go traffic.

The bigger issue is how hard it is to even find a car with a manual transmission these days, especially a used one owned by a mature woman (the only demographic that consistently keeps their cars clean/doesn't crash them).

Still though, I'm wary of ever talking to her again---I recently got talked into her to give 50 bucks to a friend of hers for a bill, and especially now I regret doing that because I have a sinking feeling she was lying.

So this dude gets left hanging at a bar alone by this chick, ends up getting a DUI and had given her $50 for a "friend's bill." What?

I'm sure it is a lot of fun to drive a car with a decent engine etc but I live in Los Angeles and my average driving speed is like 18 mph because the roads are not clear and empty like in Grand Theft Auto.

I read an article about owning a super car in New York on the Verge, it was hilarious and exactly as awful as I would imagine it would be.

You don't need to drive anywhere if you live even slightly close to a city; you can obviously practice your Japanese; and you can get a decent paying job teaching English while you figure out what you want to do with your life. If you have problems with depression you might need to be careful about such a big change though.

There's other jobs you can get.  I'd be more worried about being denied a visa because of a DUI.  Probably wouldn't be a problem, but they are extremely strict about criminal records over there.  But forget all that-- why the hell would you tell someone in the state this guy is in to go try living abroad, alone and away from family, in a country where he could and likely would feel even more alone and isolated?  Great advice.

Japanese media really need to drop the naming of petty criminals in the news.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly sending an email to a woman in her 30s containing photos of her shoes and underwear which he had stolen, together with the caption: “I’ve just snatched your treasures.”

Further investigation is also hinting that the suspect, Shochi Nagata, was in the possession of a veritable bounty of other women’s “treasures” as well.

The incident which led to Nagata’s arrest began in August of 2014 when a middle-aged woman caught his eye at a convenience store in Taito Ward, Tokyo. After following her home, he allegedly sneaked in and rifled through her belongings.

After returning to his own home, he sent the woman the fateful email containing his “I’ve just snatched your treasures” message using an email address which he had found on some documents in her room.

According to the police, several other items including pairs of women’s shoes, clothes and underwear were found at a location connected to the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.

Has MS' first party output been better? It's been gears, halo, fable, and forms beaten to a tired pulp. Any attempts to build other series were squashed. They've got some good projects in the works but nothing that's more amazing then what anyone else is doing.

There is a difference between Sony's own output and Japanese devs that only make games for the PS3/PS4 because that's where their audience is. Sony output has been complete garbage minus The Last of Us in the past few years. Microsoft hasn't been that much better the past two years, but they got their act together this year.

When it comes to console features, backwards compatibility, media support, retooling/rebuilding the UI, Sony is in a coma compared to what Microsoft is doing with the Xbone.
