PSX and PS2 era Sony published and developed games that steamrolled the competition. They sorta lost their mojo around the release of the ps3. Sony used to get their hands dirty and put out experimental and awesome stuff like Ape Escape, Parappa the Rapper, Frequency, Siren games.
They've started to get their swag back on recently, but only in the smaller titles. Games like Tokyo Jungle, Puppeteer, and Tearaway got that old Sony flavor. Unfortunately, like a lot of studios, their big releases just appeal to lowest common denominator now. Sad. They're still more experimental than other publishers, though. I doubt Nintendo or MS would okay Beyond Two Souls, as much as people think it stinks, so I still respect them.
