I realized that a Fourth International shirt would be the most ironic piece of clothing I could wear but then it dawned on me that anyone seeing me in one wouldn't get the irony. And while that's the case with other casual wear of mine too, being mistaken for an EADS employee is not like being mistaken for a Trot.

Honestly I get that there are plenty of consultants out there that are more interested in the bottom dollar than doing what's right. I get that. We're not a charity. But that doesn't mean that everything I say is biased towards money. Sometimes when I'm telling you that you really shouldn't try to better your vision by taking that sharp flaming iron poker and sticking it in your eye I'm not just telling you that because I'd make money selling you glasses, but more because after 15 years of watching people put sharp flaming iron pokers in their eye I know it is not conducive to better vision.

Now...Michael Scott was once invited to chill with these dudes including me, at BWW last year. He took an L by trying to impress us by hitting on the waitress and making things incredibly awkward. Then he underpaid for his meal and left early; he pretended to go to the restroom and left, probably out of shame.

At work the next day someone told him that he was short $5 and didn't leave a tip (we paid the remainder), and he tried to play it off like "oh...well the food was only worth $7 amirite guys!" Needless to say we haven't invited him to anything else since.

Fast foward back to the present...a coworker lied and said they reserved x seats so they didn't have room. Most people would respond to that by saying "oh...ok" but instead he said "well I can get a table next to you guys."

They shrugged it off and said the place will be packed, so the guy said "well if anyone cancels I'll take his seat. You have my digits, hit me up."

He's an Asian guy who is <35yo and balding.
Reminds me of when I was a little more abrasive and a coworker came over and was like "Hey puppy! You wanna go bowling after work?"
"Huh? No I'm knee deep in this and I don't really bowl."
"Oh come on."
"really dude? No. After I'm done with this I'm going straight home and hanging with the wife and kids."
"You sure? This is just so depressing, in my last company we all used to hang out and stuff."
"Well in this company we focus on doing our jobs."

This is how you end up 40 with no friends, ronito.

I'm a consultant dude. I wont be seeing anyone I work with after 6 months anyway.

I can't help but be equally impressed and annoyed by my cat's ability to do exactly what I don't want her to do. Recently I started letting her come into my room after I go to bed; I'll leave the door open enough for her to come in, sleep on my bed, etc. But instead of cherishing the priviledge of being in my room after 11PM she decides to act like a fool.

She'll be cool for 30 minutes...then will start climbing up my window curtains. And when I put her out/close the door she has the audacity to cry like she doesn't know why I banished her ass.

During the day when she jumps on the curtails I'll spray her with a water bottle but she never changes her behavior. I have two rules. TWO. Don't lay down near my computer (it has a side fan) and don't fuck with the curtains. And that's all she wants to do when in my room.

Trying to set up this server on a RAID 6 with 6 900gb drives and get about 3.3TB space. Windows 2012 R2 takes 1.3TB and says it's unallocated and basically unusable. It gives me no option do anything with it.

I've never ran into this before. RAID 6 is expensive as it is to have another 1.3TB not be available.

We've had a few close calls where RAID 5 still lost data after 1 failed drive. RAID 10 is a little too expensive for what we want to do. I'll do it I have too.

CEO forgets what timezone I'm on and wakes me back up at 5:30 am
Been working since and still have hours to go before I'm done.
I have to write a massive feasibility study then give a 3 hour long presentation about it to client VPs and my CEO next week and my CEO wants to do a "dry run" the day before which in essence takes an additional work day away from me working on the feasibility study.
And if we land this deal, what do I get? I don't know...too busy to negotiate right now.

the flower site i used to get flowers for my girl is apparently a giant scam and my flowers will very likely never get delivered. the track my order feature has suddenly stopped working, they never responded to my customer support form, and their line is just busy.

I heard a promotion on the radio, they were giving away free Cinnabon delights if you got their flavored coffee. I watched them make it in some kuerig knock off. The cinnabon delights are still awesome, but the burrito I got was questionable. Since I'm the only girl around these parts not sexually frustrated/obsessed with 50 Shades, I spent part of the day reading the first book in the trilogy.

Got 90% through it and gave up. It's fucking horrible, which I expected, but even the sex is fucking boring. The author keeps repeating herself, and keeps using British terms when the book is set in the PNW and written in 1st person.

I'd say a good quarter of the book consists of emails between Anastasia and Christian. One after another, fucking 10 in a row. Omfg kill me now.

Did myself a huge favor and read the wikis for all three books. Wow, dodged a fucking bullet there. They end up agreeing to boring sex and ditching the kinky stuff (that never got all that kinky), and the rest of the trilogy is about people trying to kill or kidnap them. Shut fucking up.

So now instead of pretending to be interested in conversation, I have to hide my pity that these women at work have such horrible sex lives that this shit seems exciting.
