So my youngest brother, who's back in Saudi, got this game 2 days ago. Man I forgot how early you can get games back there.

Anyway, he's an MK stan but also the only person I know who's played every MK release and completed them 100%. He's also an overall fighting game nerd. He'll definitely say it's awesome, that's a given. But the two things he told me about it that were interesting was that it's the most balanced of the past MK's that he played, and that it's faster gameplay wise. Both sound pretty good to me.
Hearing that it's faster makes me one happy dude

I thought MK9 was fast enough but im not surprised to hear this one is faster. When they first started showing X a lot of ppl were noticing how fast it was and the fact that they brought back umk3 style run combos (kinda).

Oh god. Story mode AI is rutheless as fuck. Also hate that run input since I default to SNES era R button mashing when its FF+Block. Bring back run button pls NRS. 

Looks real nice though. Bone version is supposedly 900P but doesn't look it, surprisingly crisp. Total dick move having a fairly complete

Also use Suspend/Resume on either console if you are doing story mode. There's a nasty bug where it just skips to the next fight if you quit story mode and resume later.

Releasing optional "DLC" unlock keys to unlock easy fatalities or unlock all of the game content is fine with me.  (I like the latter since I just want to play multiplayer and not sit there unlocking krap, although it's a ridiculous $19.99)

But releasing a patch that purposefully nerfs how much in-game currency you receive, making the unlocking process take much, much longer is not cool.

Also to note, do not buy this on PC!  The game is currently in a broken state and will not install properly for some users, making some content/characters/modes inaccessible.  People are also reporting shitty netcode and performance, which I would chalk up to High Voltage doing another sloppy port from.  They didn't do the best job on MK9 and Injustice PC either.   :-\

I need to try her again.  Did not really like her when I messed around in practice mode briefly.  So far I'm liking Ferra/Torr and Cassie Cage out of the new characters.   Online play has been working pretty well for me; most matches I tried had good connections.  Had several rage quitters-- sending a picture of the Quitality win screen shut one hate mailer right up.

Wasn't it just accelerated so reviewers with early copies could unlock everything super fast?

Why does picking Chapter 2 in the story timeline force me to rewatch the end of Chapter 1? Then hitting skip takes you past the Chapter 2 title card into the middle of a cutscene in Chapter 2. I think Injustice did this shit too.

Used her a bunch, too.  I like that rush n' stab move (totally stolen and reworked from MK9 Mileena) -works great in combos- but I think the butt-bounce move the regular version has may be more effective.

I got rage quits when I used Kitana (from fan throws) and also a rage quit when I tried Jaqui and did machine gun fire.  Reminds me of Deathstrike in Injustice.   :lol

Kotal seems to be one of the hardest to "get" so far. Definitely a set up and meter burn kind of character. You need to be launching and grabbing ppl a lot as far as i can tell. Meaty damage if you can connect though.

Yeah her fans are ridiculous.  :lol I do like the butt bounce move, especially cause there's a ground and air version of it now.

If you want to be a noob-killer™, just pick Kitana and zone with fans or Mileena's default style and zone with sais.  Kitana can do fans on the ground and in the air and Mileena can do sais high/low in the ground and in the air.  Idiots who block will be chipped to death and the slightly smarter ones who realize they can duck Kitana's fans (without blocking) will quickly realize that time is running out.  Idiots who also try to jump constantly will find themselves getting shot out of the air.  The latter is what led to the first Quitality I got.   :lol

Brutalities have been a pain for me to do in general (and I can pull off fatalities with ease)

I haven't really decided who I want to main as yet, though I did do a tower with Goro with his Dragon Fangs variation and I had fun using him last night

I like wrestler Jax. The people I've played online so far seemed surprised by how strong his attacks are. My timing for his command grabs sucks though. Think I'll try one of his other variations.

Ran into someone online who...just let me beat him 11 times in a row. I lost one game. I beat him 3-4 times in a row just using bullshit Sub Zero shenanigans (ice klone style & I've never used him before). I felt kinda bad around the third one.

Also, D'Vorrah Venomous style is nasty. All you really to do is be cautios and just go for normals. That shit will add up over time. If you do manage to land something nasty watch them panic and figure out where all their health went iff a 6 hit combo.

Story mode will give you a shitload first time through. I levelled up Black Dragon to 25 just through that. After that, it's dry pickings. Faction War will give you a bit more.

Faction kills need you at far fatality distance as well.

Nah a higher percentage of MK players are shitty compared to other fighters online. Just playing as Grandmaster Sub-Zero is enough to get wins on people cause they'll jump into your ice clone for days.

I've been using a hrap4 for this game ever since it came out, and my performances were not the best. I actually switched to the regular ps4 controller and it felt like a revelation. Either my stick is just defective or it just sucks. I kept messing up with it, i couldnt do combos well at all, I was starting to think that I was getting too old for this shit, but damn.

Playing with the ps4 controller feels like a dream after that.

And that is the general population of MKX online.  MK9 was the same.  I think the general violence/gore hook of MK still draws players in who have no idea in general how to play fighting games.
