Honestly you sound like someone who should limit herself to the high quality animation movies that received some legit critical appeal : Kon, Otomo, Oshii, Miyazaki, Leiji Matsumoto (Harlock has some weird issues with mothers tho ), Tezuka Tekkon kinkurīto & Mind game... It's what you are liable to have already seen, since it's pretty much the best of the best. Reading you, I suspect that even some of the good stuff will have bits that will hinder your enjoyment like any Gainax or Shirow.

I think this is what gets me in most of those debates, the obsession with the perception of others and the pathological demand for being perceived as legitimate. Accept that most people will have very superficial knowledge of your pet hobby just like you "otaku" probably don't know shit about geopolitics, ornithology or metal wielding. People in those fields will likewise look at you with the same disgust and scorn you display, but generally be repressed and well mannered enough to be polite and not dwell on it.

I think it's natural for friendships and priorities to change over time. I'm not going to judge someone because their life revolves around their kids, and I say that as someone who doesn't want kids, ever. Personally I'd just make new friends who were closer to my kind of lifestyle, but that doesn't mean i'd drop my old ones. 

Definitely agree about people who won't shut up about their kids though. I've had to unfollow a couple of people's feeds on fb because they were practically spamming pics of their kids

I think the big (or should that be 'little'?  ) problem is the Marie Rose character, who is the loli-maid character added into DOA5U/LR.  The character looks way, way too much like a little girl.  Koei Tecmo ran a poll to see which characters people wanted in the game in Japan, and naturally this character -and Honoka, who is basically Marie Rose with humongous breasts- topped the chart and are the poster characters for the game.  The rest of the characters chosen were all the Japanese characters, with Helena being the lone non-Asian in the game. 

Speculation was that Koei Tecmo was going to release a different version in the west, without Marie Rose and with the other non-Asian characters added in.  For whatever reason, this game only has like nine characters.  Koei tends to go nutso with DLC in their games so I'm sure that the rest of the characters will be released as DLC...so it still wouldn't surprise me if the game gets a western release after more characters are completed and they swap out characters as DLC or whatever.

This is also ignoring the fact that DOAX is pretty boring and really is nothing more than "TITTIES LOL" the game.  The volleyball sucks.  But not releasing this here is a head-scratcher to me since DOA5 has all the same stuff already.
