The following two trophies confirm their playable appearances:

Capcom heard that people are starting to have a positive opinion of SFV and they decided that needed to be rectified immediately. So they are adding lootboxes. :rofl

Looking at the art showing all the characters, the last two silhouettes look like it could definitely be Mui Mui...and a female Terry.  There's no way that's a dude with an hourglass figure like that.  :doge

The Low Tier GodFraud/Viscant thing needs more explanation:

LTG is a whiny little bitch who started it and said some nasty things about Viscant ("he looks like he's on meth," etc.), who not only beat him, but then explained that he looks tired because he works to get people off of drugs and was pretty offended by it.  He still acted like a child though.

It's a pretty bad video all-around because the WNF people, especially Alex Valle, who you'd think being older and "wiser," would try defuse the situation, but instead let it happen and egged it on further.  I mean, just look at the way Valle is smiling in the video thumbnail.  :doge

LTG is an absolute treasure trove. he's like the human embodiment of a KnowYourMeme page. from hilarious ragequit and disc ejections, to the pissbottles, to revealing he was molested as a child under the pretext of how much of a player he is, the dude is an endless stream of fuckery. I'd swear he was a troll if he wasn't so totally un self aware

Reading around there doesn't appear to be any additional DRM, which is a little surprising, as is the lack of shitty microtransactions. Tempting.

IIRC the Steam version has a lower playerbase online because it's separate from the Windows Store version, which lets you play with Xbox One players.

SFV update is up.

-Cody seems pretty cool.

-The loot box thing people were shitting on...is actually OK.  They're not trying to get real money out of you and you use fight money or earn tickets to get stuff.  Maybe they'll change things later but for now you can't use real money to buy chances so I don't see what the big deal is.

-Survival mode got some major improvements and with the loot box shit it's actually worth messing with now.  I was able to get the current "big prize" (alternate Cammy costume based on Cannon Spike) pretty easily after a few tries in Fighting Chance.

TBH I'd rather be able to just buy stuff with real money, namely the extra battle and fighting chance costumes, lol.

A game called Indie Pogo popped up on Steam today and I decided to check it out.  Really glad I did...it's a blast!

I missed this game completely when it popped up on Kickstarter last year.  It's a "party fighter" in the Smash vein, but does not try to be a 100% Smash clone and instead does its own thing.  What sets this apart from other games is that it's very much a "platformer fighter."  Not that Smash doesn't have those elements, but this one just feels like it more so.

You don't move around like other fighters.  Instead, Indie Pogo, like the name suggests, is also about jumping...constantly.  You auto jump to move and can jump at different heights, double jump, and use your up attack for a third 'jump' to get around.  There are no normal attacks- instead everyone has one ground special and several different air-based special moves, plus a super move.  You win by getting opponents' energy down to zero and taking away all their lives.  Matches are up to 4P simultaneously and the game offers local and online multiplayer.

They went for a 16-bit look and the sprite art is pretty awesome.  There's some pretty catchy BGMs here, too.  Almost all the characters are taken from various indie games, as the name says, with 1-2 original characters(?).  I'm pretty impressed how differently they all play considering how incredibly simplistic the control scheme is (one attack, double jump, dodge, and super buttons...that's it).  Unsure how many characters are currently in the game at the moment since more are scheduled to be added and you have to unlock characters.

Definitely something worth checking out; it will run on virtually any PC and is like 100 MB total in size.  Hope this catches on and also sees some console ports.

The Kickstarter page lists the following:

I dunno about that. GG probably just has a lower number just cause it's a few years old now. BBTag is Arc and got over 1000 entries. Anything over 500 is a good number.

Just asked in the borecon thread, but maybe get more of a response here. I don't understand how Evo works. So there are 8 games but only 5 games are in the grand finals? What happens to the other 3 final matches? Do they happen outside of the grand finals on Saturday night? I was looking forward to seeing BB Cross Tag finals, but I'm only going to Evo on Sunday for the Grand Finals in the arena.

Grand finals for the other three games is on Saturday. I only pay attention to Smash -- last year, Melee was Saturday and Smash 4 was Sunday, but it was reversed in 2016. This year Melee returns to Sunday, which I really dig. I think this might be the game's last hurrah, depending on how Ultimate is received.

The Sunday, August 5th game line-up is:

1) Guilty Gear Xrd: Rev2
2) Super Smash Bros. Melee
3) Tekken 7
4) DragonBall FighterZ
5) Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition

So that leaves Injustice 2, BB Cross-Tag Battle, and Smash Wii U on Saturday.  The only surprise here is that GG is on Sunday...would have thought it would be the newer title.

Evo also has various side-tournaments featuring other games.  Not sure what days those are on and most if not all may be on 8/3 and 8/4.

Some games have finals on Saturday, the big games have finals on Sunday. A lot of tournaments are like this. It’s to make for time. You couldn’t possibly fit that amount of games having a top 8 in one day.

You could say GG should go to Saturday but it’s a prestige game and that’s why BB Tag didn’t take its place.

ULTRA Street Fighter IV will be back at Evo this year as a side tournament!

The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection was released on May 29, 2018. In a recent press release concerning Capcom's first quarter of its 2018 fiscal year, Capcom revealed that digital sales of the fighting game collection outperformed expectations.

SF 30th Anniversary Collection was a big hit:

Quote
"In the Digital Contents business, which has continued to growth steadily in recent years, the new Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection gave a solid performance, outperforming expectations," said the report. "Further, in addition to healthy sales growth of high-margin catalog titles, the Digital Contents business drove earnings, resulting in the highest operating income for a first quarter in company history."

This is particularly impressive since it only accounts for international sales. The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection was delayed until Fall 2018 for Japan.

While the values of said expectations and actual sales of the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection were not provided, it was revealed that Capcom's net sales were up by 46.5% and operating income was up by 550.8%, year-over-year.

:leon

Maybe the increased revenue is what got them to approve the rumored Darkstalkers game being headed by Ono?
