Sadly, MMA (well the UFC) has some of the most stringent drug testing on earth(including 24x7x365 random testing). The cheaters just have more resources to throw at evading them.

The USADA testing is very stringent and also random, in and out of competition. They can show up at your house day or night and demand blood and urine (Mighty Mouse has had USADA show up to his house while he was streaming, or sometimes they stalk you like a bunch of weirdos), year round. As far as I'm aware, most fighters are tested 12+ times a year now. If you dodge or refuse a test, like Wanderlei Silva (which was pre-USADA but he still got essentially a lifetime Nevada ban), you're toast.

That isn't to say UFC is totally clean and maybe the cheaters have just been evolving with the testing and better know how to mask what they're taking. However it is a hell of a lot harder to squeak through the cracks than it used to be.

Jon Jones' positive test is also kind of weird in that he got popped on his in competition test that was taken after the weigh in but before the fight. The rest of his samples came back clean. So either Jon Jones got unlucky with a bad supplement or was "framed" lol (I don't think anyone should give him the benefit of a doubt at this point) or he's incredibly stupid and took an oral steroid (according to TMZ) the week/days leading up to the fight.

Watched the Okami vs St. Preux event finally. As a huge fan of kickboxing I'm happy for Saki but I think he got off easy. When somebody goes to test his ground game, I gotta wonder if he could still hold up. Huge fan of Gomi from the PRIDE days (wish UFC never bought them) so I am sad he lost. No comeback for him I suppose.

It would just be extremely weird since one of the alleged reasons for his initial years long break was his assertion that many people were juicing.
