A comedy show that fashions itself a news program, teaching people to seek their information via entertainment then suggesting to that very audience the idea they should subscribe to WashPo and NYT is hilarious.

The "fake news" narrative is just establishment types getting scared that their lack of concern for accuracy or certain parts of America is biting them in the ass. They are losing ground to alternate forms of information after the major TV news had lost ground to comedy shows. A fucking circus.

Sadly, most places like NYT and WaPo charge more than $5 a year. Teen Vogue is a outlier (but if you've seen their paper magazines, they're tiny but packed with pages--most of them ads granted--for the price.

Speaking of Tweets and it being semi-related to GAF, I figured this'll be interesting for some of you:

Drilling that down: http://boingboing.net/2016/12/07/for-two-years-criminals-stole.html

You have to admit the .png transparency bypass to where the characters are collected for Javascript to execute the code is pretty damn smart, though.

I like Oliver and I appreciate him being able to take complex issues and break them down into an easy to digest format, but holy shit do I hate his style of comedy. It's so formulaic, always has the same set up, but probably most importantly, it's just unfunny most of the time. And he laughs way too much at his own shit, one of the worst things a comedian can do.

It's really weird cause I thought he was great on the Daily Show, but on LWT, he comes off as a total amateur.

I wonder if GAF will realize that their constant worship of the PS4, fetishization of its exclusives and their community culture being exported out to other gaming communities is the sort of thing that is pushing more and more people to the "Master Race" just so they don't have to deal with the incessant "You have to buy a PS4 or you are not a gamer" howling from GAF Ex-Pats or adopted by fanboys.

Yes conferences are getting boring because of these attention whores, and yet they claim they love games and are friends with lots of developers but they do shit like this just to get more twitter views, more internet fame and be cool here on neogaf.
Why would you ruin a surprise, most be soul crushing to the devs working on these games for so long and when they are ready yo announce it 15 hour before one asshole leaks it online.

No, that's just fucking weird, like we should all be in thrall to the games PR hype machine.
Really fucking weird. Like "take a look at your life priorities" kind of weird.

This response is weird. Like "overly hostile" kind of weird. For me personally, I don't want to judge a game based on a leaked plot and early concept art. I'll judge a game on how it presents itself, from the announcement trailer, to the post-game DLC.

Games are people my friend !

Honestly, while her response seems kinda dumb about the offense she caused... it's one of those "lalala, life goes on" things. Yes, it sucks she ruined those rocks. But as the Buddhists say (paraphrased): Life isn't permanent. Things get ruined, even sacred sites. Sucks, but that's how it is.

I don't even fault her for scratching her butt on it; she didn't know their value at the time. My problem is that she makes light of it after being told the rocks were valued by the locals, and that she essentially takes a typical white person "lol those savages" tone about it.
