I wish HolyBakai and terrisus never got banned. This thread was a lot funnier when it was about laughing at weirdos instead of bitching about the political views of children posting on a videogame forum or five page referendums on gaf moderation

I don't know, I'm kinda glad that weird dude who had a fantasy harem doesn't get posted anymore. To be fair most posts about him were me bitching.

There's a guy I keep forgetting what he's called who is essentially all things I hate about millennials with the shittiest taste around. Something chris with his lame ass drawn as a shitty cartoon you can expect to see at the beginning of most crappy let's plays.

The real kicker is that the art just isn't good.

Blurry textures are okay.

Not-so-advanced lighting is okay.

To me even jaggies are okay.

Shitty art is not okay.

It looks worse than Wind Waker.

Because Republicans aren't good people

Like literally end of story.
It would be interesting to create a narrative that weaves a few different amoral R and R-leaning threads together:

Republicans don't care for women. That's women's health rights, but also matters of consent, equal pay, equal opportunities. See how many Senators pushed the Pussygate tape only in relation to women they are related to - they see women as subservient "things".

Republicans don't care about national security. See the number of GOP politicians who don't care about Russia's interference, but also the number who don't care about the Bush administration's email issues.

Republicans don't care about children's health.

Republicans don't care about corruption or conflicts of interest, unless it's the opposing party.

Republicans don't care about the climate.

Republicans don't care about jobs being lost to automation.

Republicans don't care about voting rights.

Republicans don't care about the truth.

Evangelical Christians don't care about their fellow man, in ways that would make Jesus blush if he were alive. The fact that so many Evangelical leaders came out against Trump, and still the Religious Right shrugged and went "Well, he may be against abortion, so fuck the rest of mankind".

Perhaps Palmer Luckey was on to something with his vested interest in r/TheDonald - that memes are actually the way forward. All of the above is abhorrent, so how do you get people to actually give a fuck, other than having pictures of Harambe exclaiming the opponent is the devil?
Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. We joked about them not being journalists, but it's probably the most effective way of ingraining into the larger populace how awful the Trump administration is.

It doesn't reach Trump voters? I don't think that matters right now. Colbert has been getting back into gear since the election and I think him being attacked by the alt-reich is a good indicator that he's effective.

Sure. But my overall point is that, contrary to what a lot of gaffers have expressed, comedy shows are a very minor actor in steering the political debate. The quote in benji's post was that Stewart and Colbert were the most effective way of ingraining the masses and that's ridiculous. A comedian can become a prominent political voice but they generally need to commit to participating in the process to do so, something Stewart or Colbert (and others) don't seem to have the pretense to, for the most part. As far as can be told, Colbert doesn't that large of a viewership that he would tilt America away from Trump either.

You can't have conservatives comedy shows cause those dudes are always one or two jokes away from taking shit too serious before one of them goes off and rambos his way into a shooting at a local pizza restaurant during little Jimmy's 6th birthday party.

The best you can do is those redneck comedy guys and the gas ran out of that car ages ago.

Colbert didn't get his groove until the last few weeks of the election. He squandered months of material with simple pg-13 jokesies. He found it eventually but it was too late by then. It's tough to fill in Letterman's shoes though but Colbert gets A for effort.

Edit: Agreed. Bee is the star of 2016 late night.

The Greg Gutfeld show is Greg doing Tough Crowd tamed down a bit for the Fox News audience. Tough Crowd would probably rock right now, but without Patrice it's not the same. Gutfeld's show is still decent.

Stephen Crowder's stuff is very kid friendly PG-13, but he embraces the silliness and can be fun. Their Brexit vote/Farage roundup is funny.

Give Milo a show and it's be interesting. Call it THE TRIGGERING or something. Liberal comedy lately hasn't been that challenging or in tune. There's a lot to mock on the left if comedians are willing to go in on it. The tables have turned a bit with the left being a bit pompous and moralistic. Can't be funny or challenging from that spot. The first thing they have to ditch is the idea that comedy only punches up. Comedy punches everywhere and how people respond tells us what is up from down. If you go in thinking of only punching up then you've already bought the moral standard.

Did anyone else listen to Evan McMullin on Keepin It 1600 the other day? I have to imagine I'd disagree with him on virtually every policy point, but I came away actually kind of liking him, personality-wise. He was good conversation.
That was my takeaway, too. If anything, he actually seems like someone who genuinely believes that someone like Donald Trump is why the federal gov should have less power (as opposed to just as a means of cutting taxes for the wealthy and slashing social programs for the poor).
Ah, the new model for Good Republican Who Actually Believes™ is unveiled. Throw your John Kasich in the pile with Lindsay Graham, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, Jon Huntsman, Olympia Snowe and Johm McCain.

I think it's half and half. I think it's important for the media and especially people who have an audience (a lot of the late shows audience is old people) why things Trump is doing is bad. At same time they shouldn't make it an echo chamber.
