My sense is there's a bit of a generational divide on procedural issues, independent of ideology. Buttigieg was more comfortable than Bernie talking about hardball tactics like nuking the filibuster or packing the Supreme Court, and a bunch of moderate swing district House freshmen were in favor of extending bonus UI based on automatic triggers in the HEROES Act, which Pelosi and leadership got cold feet on because of what it would do to the CBO number.

The last time major bipartisan legislation was getting passed was the Bush administration (Medicare Part D, Sarbanes-Oxley, No Child Left Behind, McCain-Feingold). Only one third of current Senators were there before 2009, most of them have only experienced partisan trench warfare with shutdowns and debt ceiling crises. If Biden wins there's going to be a real gap in both age and time served between the party leadership and the average caucus member.

I daren't make any predictions of what a Biden/Harris presidency might look like in practice, but Biden wants to raise minimum wage to $15, so maybe the democrats are ready to get serious. And as much as it helps to not have the word "Clinton" on the voter ballots this time, don't count your Biden's before they hatch.

$15 minimum sounds nice, but if the inflation makes the currency worthless the pay raise will vaporize within a year.

It's better to have a percentage increase every year that is more than the inflation.

Republicans are better politicians than Democrats.

I wouldn't put it past them to attack the Democratic party as soon as Trump is out with their massive campaigning machine. They're using social media much better than the democrats which is basically Nancy pelosi going "Trump virus!" and patting herself on the back.

The Lincoln Project is very obviously a grift by Republicans to get money from lib voters. You can tell this because almost everyone involved is an MSNBC regular and contributor, and the "ads" almost never actually air on television, but get constant free PR and coverage by MSNBC and CNN talking head shows showing the ads as part of their show to set up a talk segment about them. The only area they buy ads for is Washington DC on Fox News, just to troll Trump. The whole group is Bush (both HW and W) and McCain legacy nerds and you can guarantee whatever money is being made from this project is going into their pockets and whatever is left over will go towards a 2024 Republican candidate.

If Biden wins I don't know how much Republicans will turn against Trump like they did Dubya, but I'm pretty confident anyone speaking at the Democratic convention's not going anywhere in the next GOP primary.

He might run anyway. His last campaign seemed like an excuse to travel the country eating deli sandwiches, which I can respect.
