He actually made gains compared to 2016 and they're all convinced the only reason he lost was the mail-in ballots this probably won't be an issue when the situation regarding COVID-19 is resolved.

I wanted to put a huge bet online for Florida (for Trump) once I saw that registered Republicans had a bigger share of early votes than they did in 2016. If they had a bigger share of early votes AND they were expected to more likely vote on election day, I didn't think it would matter if independents broke for Biden (how much of a change could there be). I didn't buy the logic that a bigger percentage of Republicans would vote for Biden as that would surely have depressed Republican turnout (Trump won 93% vs 89% in '16).

Arizona has a long history of voting in mail. In mail voting has traditionally favored republicans because the olds like to mail in vote and avoid the long lines. Biden still the favorite but you can't assume.

I like how the GOP spend decades to set-up this system of election day voting suppression by making it harder to vote in person as their old base and rural counties would just vote by mail.

Then Donald Trump came in and decided he would win this by popular vote with an unprecedented turn-out on election day instead.
