The solution is simple
- Supply the detention centers with more staff and resources.
- Prevent more illegal border crossings by improving border security.

Really, What is that Strange Temple-Like Structure on Pedophile Epstein’s “Orgy Island”?

Quote
We reported in 2016 before the election that Bill Clinton took numerous trips on Epstein’s ‘Lolita Express’ to Epstein’s private “Orgy Island” where underage girls as young as 14 were prostituted for Epstein’s rich and famous clients like Clinton, Kevin Spacey and Prince Andrew.

Clinton’s claim that his Secret Service were with him during every trip is bogus because according to reports he simply ditched his security detail in order to stealth travel with Epstein.

Quote
New York (CNN Business)The League of Conservation Voters is cutting ties with an upcoming forum on climate change after its co-host for the event, The New Republic, published an "offensive" article about Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg.

Gene Karpinski, LCV's president, said in a statement Saturday that the piece about Buttigieg and The New Republic's decision to run it "are inconsistent with our values."

LCV, a high-profile environmental group that has spent years lobbying for tougher action on climate change, had signed on to co-host a 240-minute discussion about the issue for the current presidential candidates at a forum in September. Media site Gizmodo is set to co-host the event with The New Republic.

"LCV is withdrawing our participation in the presidential primary candidate climate forum previously announced in New York City on September 23," statement says. "We will remain focused on the important work of elevating the climate crisis in this election and encouraging all the candidates to be prioritizing solutions."
Quote
Editor Chris Lehmann told CNN Business on Friday that "The New Republic recognizes that this post crossed a line, and while it was largely intended as satire, it was inappropriate and invasive." The post was later taken down.

On Saturday, the media outlet's owner and editor in chief said the opinion piece should not have appeared on the website. "As The New Republic's owner, I want to extend our sincerest apologies to Mayor Buttigieg, as well as to our readers, for an article that was both inappropriate and offensive. It has been removed from our site," wrote Win McCormack.

"Yesterday we made a mistake, but we remain committed to honoring the tradition of high standards and journalistic integrity that have been the hallmark of The New Republic for more than 100 years," McCormack said.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) said Saturday that if he is elected president, he will ask soccer player Megan Rapinoe to be his secretary of state.

He said at the progressive Netroots Nation conference that one of his firs acts as president would be to get a secretary of state who embraces world unity and "love rather than hate," as he rebuked President Trump's foreign policy.

"My first act will be to ask Megan Rapinoe to be my secretary of state," he said. "I haven't asked her yet so this could be a surprise to her."

"I actually believe this because what I think what she has said that has inspired us so much is such an antithesis of the president's foreign policies," he added.

so we're in the leak anonymous internal poll stage :american
Top Democrats are circulating a poll showing that one of the House's most progressive members — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — has become a definitional face for the party with a crucial group of swing voters.

Why it matters: These Democrats are sounding the alarm that swing voters know and dislike socialism, warning it could cost them the House and the presidency. The poll is making the rounds of some of the most influential Democrats in America.

"If all voters hear about is AOC, it could put the [House] majority at risk," said a top Democrat who is involved in 2020 congressional races. "She's getting all the news and defining everyone else’s races."

The poll — taken in May, before Speaker Pelosi's latest run-in with AOC and the three other liberal House freshmen known as "The Squad" — included 1,003 likely general-election voters who are white and have two years or less of college education.

These are the "white, non-college voters" who embraced Donald Trump in 2016 but are needed by Democrats in swing House districts.

The group that took the poll shared the results with Axios on the condition that it not be named, because the group has to work with all parts of the party.

The findings:

Ocasio-Cortez was recognized by 74% of voters in the poll; 22% had a favorable view.

Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota — another member of The Squad — was recognized by 53% of the voters; 9% (not a typo) had a favorable view.

Socialism was viewed favorably by 18% of the voters and unfavorably by 69%.

Capitalism was 56% favorable; 32% unfavorable.

"Socialism is toxic to these voters," said the top Democrat.

and NYT primer for the David Brooks/Thomas Friedman fans:
WASHINGTON — House Democratic leaders, their patience clearly fraying, signaled this weekend to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s outspoken top aide that his seeming efforts to lead an insurrection against more moderate Democrats would no longer be tolerated — a message also aimed at the freshman congresswoman who employs him.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, a liberal firebrand from the Bronx, has given her chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, remarkable latitude to pursue the divisive politics that made his name when he led Justice Democrats, a group founded to challenge entrenched Democrats through primary campaigns.

With that license, Mr. Chakrabarti has become an unelected symbol of the party’s growing disunity, as Democrats try to coalesce as a party before what promises to be a punishing fight next year for the White House. The battle between the Democrats who secured the House majority last year by flipping Republican districts and the smaller, but politically potent, left-wing from secure Democratic districts has found its cause célèbre.

Mr. Chakrabarti ignited a firestorm two weeks ago after a bruising intraparty fight over an emergency border aid package that progressives said lacked sufficient restrictions on the Trump administration. Calling out moderate Democrats who sank a more liberal aid package, he compared them to “new Southern Democrats.”

They “certainly seem hell bent to do to black and brown people today what the old Southern Democrats did in the 40s,” he said on Twitter. He later deleted the tweet.

On Friday night, Democratic leaders showed that they had enough. Using the House Democratic Caucus’s official Twitter account, they delivered a rhetorical slap that questioned not only Mr. Chakrabarti’s future but also whether Ms. Ocasio-Cortez wanted to be a lawmaker on the inside or an outsider campaigning to purge the party of centrists and force it to the left.

The rebuke shared a tweet by Mr. Chakrabarti that explained that he believed Representative Sharice Davids of Kansas, one of the two first Native American women to serve in Congress, was enabling a “racist system” in voting for a weaker border aid package.

“I don’t think people have to be personally racist to enable a racist system,” the aide had written, to which Democratic leaders demanded,“Who is this guy and why is he explicitly singling out a Native American woman of color?”

The slap ended with, “Keep her name out of your mouth.”

That last phrase was filled with its own meaning. It echoed a blow delivered on Tuesday to the White House adviser Kellyanne Conway by Representative Ayanna S. Pressley of Massachusetts, a member of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s “squad,” who wrote, “Keep my name out of your lying mouth.”

To further make the point, Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, retweeted the slap.

I know it's passe to dunk on idealism at this point but the governor of Puerto Rico got a BS from MIT and has a doctorate. He was also a research scientist at a university. A scholar is not automatically a philosopher king.

I am coming to the conclusion that the Dem leadership aides didn't have a plan when they were attacking the new members.

It seems to me that they're falling back on the "punch left" playbook (which tbf has worked well for them over the years) while forgetting that Donald Trump is president and that there are concentration camps being documented publicly. It's not so much lacking a plan as it is lacking perspective and desperately wanting all governments to be coalition governments.
