I mostly lurked GAF since before Neogaf, probably 2003. I remember Demi and a hundred other posters, those were the days. I think I doxxed myself early on posting some stupid shit corresponding to RL so I never felt comfortable saying much, only had a few thousand posts after 12 years. I deleted most things before posting, it could only bring me trouble for the benefit of EL’s profit with free content. GAF sucked.

Pure speculation but I would have been surprised if the active user base at GAF a week ago was above 30-50k. 1 in 4  or 1 in 5 users still active for such an old forum feels right.

And it's obvious Era claimed a lot if not most of the current high volume posters.

So if we do an average of GAF members, it works out to a bit over 13,000 members a year.  Ergo, ER has gotten more members in a few days than GAF averages a year.   Not trying to defend anyone but it's actually kinda impressive.

The outrage amounted to people leaving GAF.... just to create another GAF.

Like I mentioned on the last page, I think if more people stuck around and slowly pressed for changes peacefully, it's possible Evilore would have listened and amends could have been made despite the initial resistance.

And while politics is still banned, this whole controversy was an eyeopener as to why we need to watch both sides of the aisle carefully.
