It's kind of hard to rate evilore's fame in the sense whether we would see articles about him even within gaming publications. NeoGAF is big as a news source, at least among journos, but it would be pretty unnerving if lore finds himself right in the sweet spot of being too unimportant to be pressured by allegations and important enough to affect narratives in the media, like a cockroach hiding inside the wall. If that's the case, the only thing that could hurt lore is a mass revolt by the mods.

I still find myself a little wary, because it really did seem like a voat thing, but seems like it's been "verified".

It does get referenced relatively often as a source and many game journos are lazy enough to just take threads and turn them into articles. There's no question that many of the people running big videogame podcasts are reading GAF (perhaps at a surface-level). I've often see people quote new thread bots on twitter as if it was a news aggregate. Lore knows the discussion forum of the equation isn't where he gets his money (though he seems to go as far to think he can make it his plaything without any negative consequences), which is why he prioritizes new threads and doesn't push community threads.

The admin posture isn't nearly as important as you may think it is. We've seen discord caps of people fairly dismissive of him, including how commited he is to some causes (though it often starts over disagreements on bans or community threads). Hell, it's not rare to see people lament the bishop days with the clear implications that the rest of the mod team is not doing enough to rein in Russians / Gamergators / what have you.

A lot of gaffers are content to use the forum as long as the place is tolerable and the admin isn't antagonizing them at every turn. And I'd say Lore knows this : Apart from the occasional grand statement, he's mostly absent. He certainly learnt to stop turning the place as a livejournal for his adventures.

Besides I don't think he was calculating the rainbow banner or that Paris treaty thread.
