Being a white dude in Japan, by-and-large, is playing the game on Easy Mode.

Being brown in Japan, there are few advantages. For a while, black dudes were Tokyo women's favorite accessory. But mostly the xenophobia endemic to this culture is readily present for anyone non-white, and any non-Japanese Asians. And the place enforces gender roles like it was 30 or more years ago.

I desperately want my daughter to go abroad and explore western cultures where her hard work and determination will count for something more than making tea for her former delinquent classmates. Sadly, Trump's efforts in America have shown off aspects of America that I'd never considered relevant enough to factor in.

Big dogs are the worst. "Bull in a china shop" regularly. It's like having to baby proof your house but instead of ~8 years it's doubled. One of my elderly neighbors got her hip broken when her great dame jumped up to lick her face.

I'm not a fan of dogs in general but can see myself getting one some day. They're just so... dumb. I'd have a real tough time being patient after getting woken up in the middle of the night by them barking at some stupid shit, lol.

Pets are fun when you're a kid, but as an adult it's a child that never truly grows up or learns from its mistakes. I would trade in any of my former pets to be able to be a mother and find the whole "fur baby" thing kinda gross. I understand many women currently can't or simply don't to have children, but the entire treating pets they're humans and your baby thing is....weird. You can't communicate with a pet in a real way, and while you certainly have a relationship with animals it's not really in the way you would with a human. I would much rather be a mom than ever have another pet.

Cats are cute though.

Cats are assholes but they're so affectionate (little shits). My cat was a pretty big therapy for me, and I grew up having cats, really love them. Dogs require way more responsibility, could never deal with that. Plus you gotta pick up after them, and then they smell like trash when it's raining.

Cats are way more independent and less needy than dogs, but a good relationship with a cat may in some ways require more work or effort to understand their psychology 🤷‍♀️

If you don't have much experience with cats, I recommend getting an adult cat first, because those are grown up and you'll already know its personality (#AdoptNotShop). Kittens require more stimulation and also toilet training and stuff. They can be pretty unpredictable. If you live somewhere a cat can be safe outside too, that's for the best. No cats should be kept stricly indoors imo, especially not if they're used to be outside too. Never had a dog but you'd have to walk it several times a day and do lotsa other shit. Then you gotta play with them a lot too. Cats are pretty much on autopilot. They're all different though, some are assholes who demand lots of attention, others are content with just food and sleep. But you'll know if you ask the adoption center for a calm and chill cat. :3 Just make sure you really want one, and that you're able to take care of it for many years. Even though they're chill, they still need affection. And prepare for fur everywhere, especially your furniture and clothes. lol

my cats are indoors now and they're fine as long as we crack a window regularly. they were miserable when i had a tiny apartment, but now that i got a house there's more than enough room for them to run around and have their own space. plus they're all around 10 now so I know they wouldn't last long outside anyways. i know more than a few people who saw their cats get eaten by neighborhood dogs and NOPE

Cats shouldn't be outdoors. They fuck up the ecosystem and live like 3 years. Cat owners who let their cat out because "poor kitty is stuck inside" are bad owners IMO. Just as irresponsible as a dog owner who leaves their dog outside unsupervised. But instead of dealing with your dog attacking humans, you're dealing with an invasive species' killing off entire swaths of wild life for sport. Good going jackass.

Mine's indoor too because she's a klutz and I don't trust her to not get eaten by coyotes, which are numerous around here. Sometimes she sneaks out when I go through the slider, but she only ever runs onto the lawn and starts eating grass
