They can ban all the video games they like on their "video game" forum but banning one of the developers then shittalking him when he couldnt defend himself? One of the lowest lows of a generally shitty forum.
not to mention the death threats, suicide threats, harassment and stalking they did to the same people over using the word trap once in one video game
and then doing the same again over the phrase Kokai kabushi kaisha which is CLEARLY a support of the alt right nazi KKK and not a common japanese business term
I have no idea what you are talking about.
On GAF they tended to go after XSEED a whole lot. Now one of the localization editors and translators at XSEED is a guy named Tom Lipshults, or wyrdwad as he was known in fan communities for years before he got his dream gig working on games that he had been doing fan translations for for ages. He's a nice guy, really one of the nicest you will ever meet, but he is the epitome of the early 2000s American otaku. He's a bit awkward, gets overexcited, and is big time against censorship in localization. When he started that was pretty much the same view gamers had just about everywhere. Localization censorship = bad was the default opinion. Fast forward a couple of years and XSEED is releasing games like Senran Kagura and Akiba's Strip while at the same time FemFreq is getting huge in the gaming press. Suddenly XSEED's games, which also have a lot of 'normal' Japanese fare are singled out as creepy and exploitative. Tom goes to bat for said games, he goes to bat for not changing the ages of the girls in Senran Kagura, he in an unrelated thread says that lolicon manga should not be censored, he defends the use of the word Trap by a character in Akiba's Strip. Eventually these unpopular positions get him banned. During this time he got death threats, constant abuse from the GAF community, and was treated like a pedophile. (On, GAF of all places. Ironic I know.)
Even after he's gone he got reams of shit flung his way, the KKK thing being the strangest one. It was an odd hill to die on, even for me, but he stands by his principles. Another person in the same fandom, a female, was also thrown off GAF after she got death threats and was constantly attacked for defending XSEED and Tom. The shit they threw at her made her suicidal for a time. She's much happier now after her ban. She, like Tom is also a super legit nice to pretty much everyone person, but she had wrongthink, and you know how that went.
