Reddit is the forum replacement with variety, but it depends on what you're looking for in regards to discussion.

It's still got nutjobs, but you can find lightly moderated subreddits that tend to keep the nutters at bay.

And folks there don't believe in the marketplace of ideas because nobody outside their bubble will buy their ideas. Get yourself a real argument, a real idea and get confidence in what you're saying and your ability to understand what is being said and free speech is suddenly not a scary thing.
