Soon after, the tent the victim slept in was moved into a shed with a padlock, the court documents describe. That was until Raylaine Knope allegedly told Terry Knope and Jody Lambert to build a cage for the woman, which was made of chicken wire and covered with a plastic tarp and tree branches, officials said.

Court documents allege the victim was required to live in the cage when she wasn't working for the family. Some of the work she was required to do was clean the trailer with a toothbrush, cut the grass with scissors and clean the septic system without gloves, tools or protective clothing, officials said.

Raylaine Knope is accused of withholding food from the victim if she did not complete her work or did not do it fast enough, the documents allege.

Investigators said some of the harm done to the victim included Terry Knope smashing her hand with a hammer, shooting her with a BB gun and burning her hand with a lighter, when Bridget Lambert is accused of holding the victim's hand in place.

I think the fact that ban/warn posts aren't deleted has subconsciously affected my view of the site. At most places, they delete posts that lead to bans/warns entirely. But here, they still show what led to the ban/warn in plain view. This leads me to think that the the moderation isn't as effective as it is because I still SEE the posts even IF action was taken. At the old place, I didn't see nearly as many problematic posts because they were just deleted outright. And it's not like I can easily look away- it's like a trainwreck; if it's there, you can't easily look away. I am wondering if there is a functionality in the forum software to hide content that was banned or warned so we don't have it right in our faces when reading the forum. Like have the post there, but you can only see the red bar unless you click unhide.

I understand that it's a guide, and that's helpful to many people. But I've never been so much as warned and honestly do not need to guidance. I know what is and isn't acceptable here. But as you alluded to, it harms my state of mind just seeing some of the disgusting posts that are rightfully banned here. It sounds like many people find the feature helpful, and that's great. Perhaps a toggle on/off option for banned/warned posts? Make it an option for people who want to see what was acted upon as a guide, and make it an option for people who don't want to see that crap.

So, accepting that it cannot feasibly, or rather reasonably, reach such a high rate of expansion, the question is if the current situation is enough to keep the forums healthy. I would say that as of now, the forums are definitely very healthy and lively. However, on the other hand, most posters are those who were part of the first 30,000; those who joined afterwards don't seem to make up nearly as many posts. I'm not sure what exactly the reasons are; maybe it's because there's just not as many of them (which is probably the most likely reason) or maybe it's because they have trouble adjusting/getting to know everybody; I'm not entirely sure.

When being a junior member seems to be an actionable offense, who would want to stick their neck out and instead just lurk?

One thing I think is clout. I heard about gaf through other sites that talked about its history and reputation, as well as being the source of a lot of info they'd reference. I think once the site is more established and has some more stories/events under its belt, we will see growth during those time periods.

Does this surprise you in today's day and age? Most of us are millennials, we were born and raised in front of the TV and computer. For Gen Z kids it's the same only swap it for cell phones and ipads.

Outside of a few sports related activities, or just going to the movies (which is still watching something even if it's not in your home), the only reason to travel is to see historic landscapes or the culture of other nations. I don't care about trying other food, all food is basically the same with slight variations and we have all different food here in the U.S. based on that like Chinese/Japanese/Thai/Mexican, etc.
