Guys, I have come across a shocking case of cultural appropriation (audio blackface) that I believe would shake Resetera to the core.
Unfortunately, without an account, I can only share it with the members of the bore dot com.
There is a white male (probably cis) from Canada who has become successful selling reggae music from Jamaica. In fact, he has the best selling reggae song of all time.
A white man stealing reggae and profiting!
Whats worse, he directly makes reference to this in his lyrics.
People them say you come from Jamaica
But me born an' raised in the ghetto that's the one I want you to know
Pure black people, mon that's all I mon know
Yeah me shoes are tear up an' me toes used to show
Where me born in on the one Toronto soAnd thats not the bottom.
The entire song is about getting arrested by the police for murder.
So then they put me in the back the car at the station
From that point on me reach my destination
When the destination reached it was the east detention Now as the listener, you dont know this guy is white. So you assume its a black guy talking about being a criminal. What a horrible stereotype!
But nope, its this guy:

BUT WAIT THERES MORE.
Global icon Daddy Yankee, one of the most successful mainstream artists of our generation, has elevated this appropriating cis white male from Canada by collaborating with him, spinning off from the reggae song, and adding the artist as a featured collaborator.
Can we get a boycott going???
